Wow, thanks for the BattleLore review, Scott! :) However, now I'm wondering where you might travel to. Catan? ;) I wish you a nice trip anyway!

Wonderful review/overview!

I love the other games in the "series" so I have a feeling I will positively ADORE this one (when it arrives under my tree...)

Sorry to hear about your feline friends... I don't know about you, but 2006 has been pretty lousy for me, overall. Looking forward to a new year in so many ways!

Keep up the great reviews and I'll see you in 2007!

I am waiting to play this at Christmas (My wife has bought it for me.) Thanks for the review Scott, really helpful as always. I am going to get my sons and wife to watch it so they can understand the game before the 'opening day'

Nice review, Scott! Sorry about the loss of your pets. I know what that is like.
Can't wait to get my copy of Battlelore!

I'm really looking forward to this game. Even moreso after watching this.

I'm sorry about your cats. Darwin (a great name, by the way) was quite cute when he crawled into that one outtake. Losing pets is always hard.

Nice review, Scott. If I didn't already own BattleLore your review would have definitely made me want it. Keep up the great work on them and I look forward to your next one.

Sorry to hear about your cats. I know losing a family pet can be a great loss. My thoughts are with you and your family.

The gameplay looks interesting (I haven't played any of the Borg stuff), but those unpainted minis would drive me CRAZY

I'd get it for my nephew but I already got him HeroScape, and those figures are nice enough (i.e. pre-painted) to also function as toys.

Scott, sorry to hear about your cats. congrats on being on the 9. Thanks for another great review of a game that is definitely of heavy interest on BGG. I enjoyed it.

I have one question for you. Why do you call the minis dolls and the mounted units horsies? It seems like you are trying to make the game sound childish. Do you feel like portraying these games this way is a positive thing for a hobby that sometimes battles the stereotype that we are men that play with toys? Or perhaps you are trying to embrace that stereotype? I'm just curious as to your motivation.

There's no motivation - it's just what I've always called them - as I don't script it out, I just say what comes to mind. In this episode, I tried to call them "guys," but I know a few "dolls" slipped in there. I've never called them miniatures - that just feels too formal to me.

These are toys, and in games like this, we are playing with toys, reenacting battles..just with more rules than when we were kids. So, something about playing with these particular toys (like this and Heroscape) brings out that kid in me who played with horsies. Rather than stifle that kid and act formal and stuck-up about the game, I choose to let the kid out and have fun with the toys.

Probably, it's because my first exposure to using small figures came as a kid, and continued through high school and college through roleplaying, and the terms just stuck in my head.

Also, the phrase "mounted unit miniature" sounds like something the Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons would say.

A great review as always Scott. Wow that looks a great game. I wasn't holding out for this at all but from your review I can see it addresses alot of the problems I had with maintaining interest in BattleCry. I miss my Warhammer days and this would certainly fill that craving.

This has gone from off my radar to my new most anticipated purchase (knocking Shogun off that spot). Thanks again!

Ooh and all praise to Days of Wonder for putting all that effort into presentation and ease of use.

What a fantastic episode. Thanks Scott!

I had no real interest in Battlelore before I saw your review. Now, I'm hoping for some Christmas cash so I can pick up a copy!

Whenever I see that intro, with this sad music and cats I feel depressed. I am really sorry.

Thanks for review, just after it I went to shop and bought game. Also I started blog - kapustka.net, it is partly about boardgames and I am sure that I will quite often put a link to your review of a game.
