BookShelf Games Ep 29 - ElfBall
This week I did a quick video for ElfBall

ElfBall is fast paced fantasy sports game. Players will take control of a fantasy race and try to fight there way to victory. In the video I said that the game closely resembles American Football but after thinking about it, I think it may more resemble Rugby. From the little I know of Rugby the dominate strategy seems to be to line up your players so that a player can move a fair distance then lateral the ball to a team mate so they can move the ball a bit further. I think this would be an excellent strategy for Elfball.

This video is about 30 mins. It covers the basic rules of the game through some examples of common plays such as face off, tackling, and passing.

I assume the green dice have 2 successes, 1 conditional success, 1 flop, and 2 blanks. In this case, the probability of success on a single die is:

p = 2/6 + 1/6 * (probability of success on another die roll)

p = 2/6 + 1/6 * (2/6 + 1/6 * (...))

An easy way to solve this is to multiply by 6...

6p = 2 + 1 * (2/6 + 1/6 * (2/6 + 1/6 * (...))

Substitude for p...

6p = 2 + 1 * p = 2 + p

5p = 2

p = 2/5 = 0.4
