Gizmet Gameworks' Coalescence Contest
Greetings, cogs and sprockets! Gizmet Gameworks has just released a new game, Coalescence, and I'm throwing a contest to celebrate.

A contest? Awesome! How does it work?

Coalescence is a star system themed abstract strategy game, so I decided to make this a star system themed contest. Smart, right? Anyway. Below, you will see an image composed of pictures of nine stellar objects:

What I'd like you to do is identify all nine of those stars, nebulae, galaxies, or whatever they are, and email them to coalescence-contest@gizmet.com along with your BGG username (if you like) and the words "coalescence contest" in the subject line. If you could list them in order, upper left to lower right, that would be great. The first person to get an email to me with all the correct answers wins!

Contests have prizes, right? What do I get?

Ah yes, excellent question. Naturally, the winner will receive a copy of the game. But is that exciting enough? Well, it's pretty exciting, but just to blow out the excite-o-tron, you will not only receive a free copy of Coalescence, but we'll also throw in a copy of our other tubular abstract strategy title, Honeypot! That's like forty bucks worth of games, right there. For free! Nice, right? Stars and bees - who could ask for more?

Sweet! Is there a deadline?

Well, I picked out the images so that they wouldn't be too terribly hard to figure out, but if no correct entries arrive in, say, two weeks' time or so, I'll call it there, and mail off a couple of consolation tubes of Coalescence to the people who had the most right. Sound good? Good!

So, let's get the star search started. Thanks, and have fun!

(Free shipping on prize games within the continental United States. Probably free shipping elsewheres, too, unless the cost is, like, insane. I'm just a guy, here. One entry per user, please. Flywheelers need not apply. :p)

Very, very close, but you were still off by one. It was a tough one, though, so if nobody else gets them all, I'd say the prize was still yours.

Still got a while to go, though... keep those fingers crossed! :D

Wow, we have a winner already! There were several entries that were very close, only one or two off, but someone did in fact nail all nine of the celestial bodies, and that person was...

pikkusiili2000!

Congratulations! Monday is my usual post office run day, so your celebratory copies of Coalescence and Honeypot will be on the way in fairly short order.

Here's the complete list, left to right, top to bottom:

1. V838 Monocerotis
2. NGC 6188
3. M45: The Pleiades Star Cluster - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleiades_(star_cluster)
4. M8: The Lagoon Nebula
5. Hoag's object, a ring galaxy - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoag's_Object
6. M42, Orion Nebula
7. Cat's Eye Nebula - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat's_Eye_Nebula
8. M20, Trifid Nebula
9. M104, NGC 4594, Sombrero Galaxy

Very good efforts on the parts of all who entered - thank you! Gizmet Gameworks will be releasing a couple of new games this year (hopefully!) and plenty more in the future, so keep an eye out for them, or drop me a line if you'd like to be added to our announcement email list. (Which doesn't exist yet, but will Real Soon Now.)

Thanks, and keep having fun!
