Will this expansion also be available in the US for those who aren't going to Essen?

IIRC Scott, John will make all the Essen releases available to those of us who can't make it to Essen. I think you have to order the whole package though. Hopefully John or JC will come by and clarify.

1. Go here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/31047
2. Thumb #11 if you live in the US.
3. Thumb #12 if you live elsewhere.
4. Cross your fingers.
5. Wait patiently until October or until we hear from John.

Yes, I know a proper 18XX tile should have a tile number.

For those of us who ordered this as part of the Essen Collection, can JCL confirm when deliveries will be sent to the UK?

JC sent off his 2008 US Essen Sets in early December. Given the Christmas traffic, please allow up to 6 weeks for international delivery.

I'm not sure how it works in the US-UK direction, but I just received a package from the UK that took about eight weeks to arrive.

Re: US Availability
It varies widely. I sent off a bunch of Scheme games to different countries on Dec 8. Two went to Finland, with one arriving a week later and another arriving Dec 31. One German got her game in a week, another the day before Christmas.

Three years ago I sent 3 identical packages on the same day to the same address in Germany. One arrived in 10 days, another 20 days, the last 40 days. Weird.

I exchange a fair bit of post with England. It is usually slower than the rest of Europe (Royal Mail friends?). The rest of Europe should have arrived by now or be just about to.

Are you suggesting that an organisation in England - appointed by the Queen herself no less - is less efficient than their European counterparts. Shame on you sir. Next you'll be trying to tell me that the Aussies are better at cricket than us.

Anyway, my Essen 2008 set arrived safely, so you have my thanks.

Surprisingly, the slowest service seems to be sending to Canada!

Royal mail is just dreamy. I think the problem with mail from america is that Royal Mail have to fish it out of the water first.

It seems to vary. or there are wide differences in postage options. I buy items from the USA frequently. A set of golf clubs took 10 days to arrive even allowing for some nonsense with customs, the record for a game was 4 days, the longest wait is 3-4 weeks but this isn't too often.

I lived in England for 10 years, most of my formative years and did much of my education there. I have great fondness for the country and its institutions. I well remember watching a simple letter take 2 days to go from Baltimore/Maryland/USA to London and then once in the Royal Mail's care, an another 3 weeks to get from London to Brightling-on-sea in Essex, a distance of roughly 75 miles IIRC. Of course I also lived in Australia for 6 years...so umm, so umm, so how are Arsenal doing this year?

Going backwards. Which in a way is a shame because they are the least nauseating of the so called big clubs.

Today I received in the mail some more Erie Railroad expansion orders. One of them was postmarked Jan 6 and came from Seattle. Another was postmarked Jan 7 and came from Sweden. Yes, mail to Pittsburgh is faster from Sweden than it is from Seattle, Washington.

Also, folks, when you send us the $10 (or 10 Euro) bill for the Erie expansion, please also put a piece of paper in the envelope so that it isn't obvious that the envelope just has a $10 bill, OK? Gee whiz...
