1 tile in the 3 group, 2 in the 4 group, 3 in the 5 group
I don't think this has been suggested yet. We played one game and while we had fun, there was little reason to lay a group of 4 or 5 motifs when the 3 group was getting constantly replenished. Why not do this: have only one tile on the board in the three group section, the normal two tiles in the four group section, and three tiles in the five group section? This makes assembling three motifs (especially when you just pick the three motivs in a row cards) less of no-brainer strategy as it will often not be a useful tile.

Why don't you try it and report back. Usually there are good efficiency reason to go with many small groups, leaving larger groups if you really need a tile. The double draw with 6 should be enough reason to go larger sometimes.

I think this would be too big a change. Maybe one extra tile for 5. 5 still gives more options since you can take any tile.

My feeling is that it's more important how you arrange the group to be easily rescored than it is worrying about the size now.

I just tried it with two players. It actually did not change gameplay much, there were plenty of times to go after the three tile, but now there was a greater incentive to make groups of 4 and 6. The downside is in a two player game it's so easy to make a group of 6 that perhaps there was perhaps too big of an incentive to go after a 6 group--but at the same time, it adds tension because you still need the right card to get 6.

Why was there more incentive for 6?

Because getting any tile plus a face down tile is now a good deal better than making two sets of 3 tiles, where you pick up the single tile choice twice. Maybe that's good. Depends on whether you want more of a brain burner or more of a simple set-matching game.

Marginally better than the better it was before. It is still far more efficient to create and score 3 regions.

I like the addition of refilling tiles from the 5 and shifting them down.
