Good review. This game was on my 'interest' list; now it's on my 'buy' list. Plus the expansion too.

This part is erroneous. Instead the bonus value comes from the airplanes that are placed on the card by the game-end timer mechanism which you mentioned next.

Re: [Video Review] Jet Set
That was just a minor mis-wording. I thought he was going to get it wrong too, but he showed how planes go on the final cards and get points.

Minor enough, yes. But that sentence taken literally it made me wonder if he had slightly mis-played the rules. When he showed putting planes on the cards, he only referred to that action as the "timer-type ending". No mention of points in that sentence.

No, I mispoke. I have played it correctly, putting the planes on the cards.

Thank you for the clear and detailed review. I was going to correct you on the point about planes on the Final Flight card, but then I saw that others had beat me to it. Bravo to the BGG community for being on top of all the rules details!

I also appreciate that you took the time to review the expansion cards. These were only available at Essen, but they will be included in the upcoming Jet Set expansion set. This will also contain two heftier expansions, and a second set of Flight Cards of both colors.

Have fun!

seems to have quite a few concuring that the game plays like a prototype. I also had at least one trusted friend comment on the game having "pacing issues" or something to that effect.
Certainly not the experience found during 2 plays at my gametable this past weekend, where 2 new players (introduced in the past month) joined the other 2 of us who were eager to expand beyond just 2-player games had that preceded. More eagerness resulted.

After over a half dozen games, I feel this really shines the more players you have in the game. The games I played at BGG.con last year with 2 players were ok, but don't really have a lot of tension, it's more of a race to the finish meets power grid's mantra of the most cost efficient path. Three players improves the tension a bit, but where the strategy and depth of the game comes to light is when you get 4 or more players in a game. Having to decide not only about what routes to claim, but who you are going to help using opponents' routes makes the game for more interesting and entertaining.

I will say that if you are the type of person who makes a decision about a game after only one play, you could be fooled into thinking this game doesn't offer much. Despite the very well written rulebook, frequently first timers make rules errors that skew gameplay. This is a game that really needs to be played multiple times before you can get a good feel of whether the game is for you or not. It became an almost instant favorite for me, even after the one play, but getting a chance to play it with more than 2 players the second time really convinced me I had to have this game. The only downside for me is that I get friends hooked on this, and then it seems they can only find it online. If it's being distributed to game stores, I'd love to know who is carrying it, so I can get my FLGS stocked with several copies.

We are being distributed in the U.S. by ACD, Alliance, and GTS. But it is still the decision of each individual retailer whether to stock it in their store.

Bringing the game to the attention of retailers is a challenge. We are doing whatever we can with flyers, trade shows and etc. but it is a slow process.

Having customers request it directly from the retailers is a big help also. Many thanks to those of you who have done this.

... We'll keep working on it!
