I have a few questions after reading the rule book:

1. I am not entirely sure which battlestation actions cannot be done remotely (at a penalty of -3)- sometimes it is stated explicitly, sometimes it is not. For example: can the engines be pumped remotely? Can someone list all the battlestation actions which cannot be done remotely?

2. Most of the pages 50 and 51 are totally unclear to me (the part about what characters can do onboard a boarding missile): What's the difference between the action on page 50 under "Hits against a Boarding Missile", and the action on page 51 beginning with "a character in a missile may...". Can someone give examples which clarify the distinction between these two actions?

I don't understand this sentence on page 51 at all: "Characters aboard the missile may take an action to choose where they go such as changing targets or remain in the same hex."

3. Is the reward of 100 XP for a completed mission in addition to or instead of the 50 XP for an attempted mission?

Thanks very much in advance,
Matthias Staber

Re: Some questions
[q="Matthias Staber"]I have a few questions after reading the rule book:

ALL BATTLESTATION ACTIONS can be taken remotely at a penalty of -3. Actions which are not BATTLESTATION ACTIONS (such as repair) cannot be taken remotely. See page 33 "Battlestations may be used to operate their own module, or can operate remote modules of any type at a -3 penalty."

2. Most of the pages 50 and 51 are totally unclear to me (the part about what characters can do onboard a boarding missile): What's the difference between the action on page 50 under "Hits against a Boarding Missile", and the action on page 51 beginning with "a character in a missile may...". There are 2 ways to avoid a shot to your boarding missile. You can either make a piloting check against a difficulty of 12 (page 50) or make a piloting check against the total roll of the attack to hit you. (page 51) the roll against a 12 only works against ship's cannons. The roll against the attack to hit you works against tractors, missiles, cannons and whatever else comes along.

I don't understand this sentence on page 51 at all: "Characters aboard the missile may take an action to choose where they go such as changing targets or remain in the same hex."

3. Is the reward of 100 XP for a completed mission in addition to or instead of the 50 XP for an attempted mission?

Yes there is. A character that completes a mission gets 150 experience. 50 for trying and 100 more for succeeding.

Thanks for your questions

the engines can be pumped remotely.
can not be done remotely: Healing, repairing modules, bots, and equipment, recofiguring the cannon, lauching a fighter, and hacking an battlestation or hatch.

they are just restating what is said under Hits Against a Boarding Missile p. 50

a normal missile is fire and forget and you need to choose a point or object on the map it is going to. a boarding missile does not have a guidance system, it is controlled by the character(s) in the missile. so if they want to change targets in midflight they can choose there own course.
