This question came up on the Kickstarter comments list, but I thought it might be good to echo it here for anyone interested...
What is the advantage to Cadenza's Ante ability?
I downloaded the print & play version and had a really good time. I do have one question, though - why Cadenza's Iron Body token can be played both as an ante or as a 'just in time' effect. Why would you ever want to ante them (as opposed to just saving them to play as needed)?
This is mainly relevant in the Kallistar v. Cadenza match. Kallistar has an effect that says "the opponent is stunned." Since this isn't stun from damage, Cadenza can't spend his token to stop the stun when he is hit.
However, if he predicts Kallistar will try this, he can ante the token for Stun Immunity, which will prevent any and all kinds of stun. There are a few other characters in the full game that have auto-stun effects too, so Cadenza has to watch his opponents and anticipate these powerful effects.
Here's a breakdown:
Stun Immunity - Beats everything. You just can't be stunned. Period.
Auto Stun Effect - "The opponent is stunned." This beats everything except Stun Immunity.
Stun Guard - This only beats stun from damage.
