When kicking or sliding, the penguin involved always ends up laying down, facing a specific direction.

When standing, either with or without the ball, a penguin is considered facing every direction.

A tackled penguin ends up laying down, facing away from the starting position of the tackler.

A penguin must move its full distance unless it reaches the ball (loose, or under an opposing penguin) or the edge of the board before completing the full move. Otherwise, the move may not be attempted.

Re: Penguin Soccer FAQ
[A couple more questions which have come up . . .]

A penguin that has the ball may not slide away from the ball and leave the ball behind.

The ball may be intentionally kicked to a penguin from the opposing team.

A turn may not be passed - the board position must change with every turn.

Any move that would result in a penguin in the opposing home sqare may not be attempted.
