To my surprise and delight the Age of Industry expansion was handed to me by the postman this morning. Both maps look great, the board is nice and thick and the two expansions look different enough from the vanilla game to see a lot of play this summer

Is Duluth still spelled Deluth on the final Minnesota map?

Guh. As someone from the Iron Range with a touch of OCD, I don't think I could play the map with that mispelling.

I, not knowing the area, would have have played on with blissful ignorance. Now my eye will be drawn to the errant E every time I Play. Perhaps I should mark it with a pen? Not an imminent problem as I will be playing the Japan side this afternoon.

There is at least one typo in the rules as well.

Let us know how it goes Paul.

Hoping my copy will arrive before an intended play session on Thursday.

Played both maps this afternoon.
Both excellent and are very different from vanilla AOI. Also very quick, especially the Japan map.

Why, they don't employ professional writers.
How much more would you pay for a game from a publisher that had paid proofreaders?

Little to nothing, but I'm sure many proofreaders would be willing to work for free, or for a copy of the game.

I can think of at least one. ninja

Then they are not professionals, but volunteers, and the industry already uses plenty of those.

Not ones that can pick up typos if the map and rules of this expansion are anything to go by.

So if a pianist plays a piano for someone for free, they suddenly lose their training and experience?

My adventure in threadjacking ends here. Sorry if I've offended you, Scott, by being overfussy - you weren't the first and won't be the last.

ASL ... yes, this is my Desert Island Game. If I have to give up all my 3000+ games and only allowed to keep one, this would be it. This bloody game stood the test of time. Around for more than 25 years - simply the best.

Mine arrived today and when I saw the package I instantly tried to suppress the tears in my eyes: coarse postmen must have handled that parcel, because it looked as if England's team used it as a rugby ball in the finals ...

Although after opening it, I saw the genius behind the packing: all corners where protected by heavy cardstock and apart from a small scratch near Grand Forks the board arrived undamaged!

I'd be grateful if they just managed to touch the ball in the 2011 finals...

Weirdly, mine has that too.

Also, there's a typo on the Japanese side as well...

So, Austrian postmen are to blame then ...
I always had the feeling they hated Grand Forks! Don't even deliver mail there!

Re: Arrived this morning
Arrived today, despite the apparent backlog in our postal system, which is a leftover from the strike/lockout, two weeks ago...
