So I wanted to ask before I go ahead. What do you guys think about a contest to help fix a game already in the works?

Here's the skinny (also known as run down) We've been working on a game for months. We like it, we love it, it's fun. There's just a couple of snags.

A) First turn advantage is huge
B) Should damage to Champions be permanent or should they heal to full every round?

(Really the problem with B is: We want the game to encourage players to beat up on Champions not just go straight for the Summoner (Player). But we don't want you to auto lose once you fall behind on Champions.)

That's where you come in. You download it, print it, play it and then fix it. The best fix wins a prize. And any ideas we incorporate from other players we give a secondary prize.

----------------------------------------------------

Would people be interested in something like that?

There are people on this site that do that sort of thing for free. Getting GeekGold (or some other nice prize) would be a nice reward for doing something we love to do anyway.

It'd be an interesting challenge.
The easier is the game to print, the clearer are the rules and the shorter is play time, the more people will try it.

I'll just put this over here with the rest of the fire.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

I'd take a look at it. What kind of playing time? How many people does it accommodate?

FREE? Well that would be even better! But it wouldn't seem like much of a contest if there wasn't a prize

If both players know what they are doing it shouldn't take longer than an hour to hour n fifteen tops.

It's designed for heads up play 1on1. But 2on2 could work if A) you don't mind the downtime or B) You take your turns simultaneously and figure out some mechanics to avoid "auto-sweeping" the field of enemies. (Having 2 players taking a turn together might wipe the field of too many guys too quickly)

Someone mentioned GeekGold which might be a good idea.

Truthfully if someone we're to really step up and be a virtual developer and polish it to up to a whole new level I'd happily give all kinds of credits, swag and stuff. I've found that the more I give the more the world gives me.

What do you expect to get?

Well, it depends how much work is required ot print the game, learn it, play it, fix it. But no expectation, really. Just curiosity since you said "The best fix wins a prize."

I could submit about 5 "fixable" games to such a contest...most game designers probably have a dozen or so that need another brain to bounce them around. I dont know how many would give much more than some playtesting advice, shying away from a total re-working, since it is a lot of work!

Good luck though!

Did everyone download the file?

Would a character named after you + $50 cash + A spot in the Credits be an awesome enough prize?

Re: Fix my game contest?
Sorry, Bud, I've been so busy I've barely glanced at the file. I should be able to give it a go this weekend, though.
