If Anders enters play as result of an execution, ignore his drawback.

Anders gets few engagements due to his unspectacular abilities and crippling drawback and this is even more so after executions. This houserule intends to give him a better chance to enter play as latecomer.

What do you think? Thanks for your feedback!

Not too shabby. Given how little attn e gets, I'm inclined to go so far as to completely bypass his weakness.

OTOH, Anders' fans may have a case that it may make his ability too strong to be able to mulligan any bad cards out of the 5 (+ 3 initial if going that far) from the get-go

We've houseruled that his StarPlayer is a movement or action thing.
That was enough to get him chosen for 2nd seat

But never after execution

We've had a case where we choose Anders post-execution just for his OPG. We desparately needed to kill a centurion, and a gauranteed kill would've been helpful (though we ended up losing to that anyways since a lucky hit on Armory did us in).

Starts on the Bench - You only draw 2 skill cards during the Receive Skills Step of your first turn.

How about this one?

His OPT already isn't that spectacular, compared to a simple Consolidate Power. You need to have 4 or more expendable cards in your hand, for it to become noticeably more powerful. And his drawback directly hinders that.

I think Anders can work, if he moves to the Press Room early on and gets XO'd a few times, but that's a lot of caveats.

With this change, he at least has a reasonable chance to travel between ships and/or play an XO or scout on his first turn, regardless of where in the playing order he starts.

Aldo, his weakness doesn't need to be tweaked for 3p and 4p games isn't

Good intentions are no substitute for a good education.

Considering that Anders is nowhere to be found in the first year of BSG, then spends two years in the thankless role of Starbuck's hated hubby, and finally spends a year in a bathtub, why not scrap him altogether?

Because there are people who actually do enjoy playing Anders as he is.
