Is there any chance that we will ever get an option for a mounted map board - like for the recent Columbia Games release Shiloh: April 1862? I would love to be able to buy a mounted map for Julius Caesar. Has Columbia Games considered adding mounted maps as a pre-order option to determine interest among their various games? Obviously between Shiloh and the upcoming Shenandoah: Jackson's Valley Campaign, Columbia is pretty happy with their ability to print mounted maps. And the plethora of GMT games being released (and re-released) with mounted maps shows that the pendulum has currently swung to the "willing to pay a little extra for a mounted map with my game" side of the wargaming spectrum.

Give me a thumb or a comment if you would like a mounted map (or maybe I'm in the minority)!

I'd rather have a map that showed which sides can recruit legions at each city.

Yes, absolutely. Lack of a mounted map board is just about the only reason I've postponed the acquisition of this game. I hope there will be one in the next print run. Judging from the reviews so far, making the map slightly bigger wouldn't hurt either.

Don't postpone picking up this one for too long - it's a great game! And easy to teach to others - I sent a friend the pdf of the rules so he could give them a read before he stopped over and we were up and running in no time (even though he hadn't played a Columbia block game before).

If I had to choose I'd MUCH rather have a bigger map (at least twice the size) over a mounted one. It could also use some design changes for visibility and usability.

Would love to have a mounted map, and would order one instantly, even though my paper map still looks good with over 70 play's on it.

I think it should also come with precision dice, just to pile on. I hate losing those long-shot battles to 'lucky' rolls...

How about make your own?

The squad leader/ASL mounted boards are almost the exact size of two sections. You'd need 3 of them (eBay - ~$4 each). you'd have some overhang on the outside edges, but you'll have your mounted board.

I'll likely not do that as, to me, it's a perfect board as is.

That could work, thanks for the tip! I'm thinking maybe just some foamcore and spray glue would do the trick as well. Most likely will be a while before I get to that though, got a couple of other games on queue now. Still, if a revised edition with a larger mounted map would get published before this one ends up in my shelf, I wouldn't mind!

Wooden components aside... a fifty buck game should come with a mounted map.

Does any CG game boards come mounted?

I must admit I was taken aback by the small amount of contents in the box, however its a fantastic game and still well worth the money.

Re: What I Want is a Mounted Map Board

Most of the new releases come with mounted maps for people who pre-ordered, including Shiloh: April 1862 and the just released Shenandoah: Jackson's Valley Campaign. It seems to be their new perk to get people to pre-order.
