I had an iphone 3G till recently (still have it, actually) but it was acting up a lot and as long as I was planning to stay with my provider, I might as well get a subsidized phone. 3GS, I think, was free with upgrade, but i'm not going to commit for another 2 years for a 2 year old phone. The 4G or 4GS or whatever the newest one is was 300 or 400, even subsidized.
I got an HTC Inspire since it was totally free and came with 100$ in gift cards (and yes I know it's about a year old as well). I like the OS, it's definitely a lot more flexible than IoS, but the phone itself is not as good (signal wise) as my iphone. As a device of course it's more powerful since it's at least two years newer.
Anyway, yes, I would buy Android apps, pending the price. I think I paid 1.99 for one iphone app, .99 for a bunch, and most of them, 0.00.

Re: (POLL) Phone OS
I have an Android phone (Droid X - I know, a tad dated) and an Android tablet (ASUS Transformer)

I know that the tablet will upgrade to ICS and I'm hoping that a few more board games will be developed by the time it reaches a mass audience. It is hard to reward developers of board game apps with purchases when... they aren't developing the apps. It is kind of a self fulfilling prophecy.
