hey guys

just arrived from UK and looking to spend some powerful sterling on games while i'm here, am thinking of ordering online from funagain.com - their prices seem good (although any bettter suggestions please let me know) but also want to pick up some games today to pay. Which are the best stores in town? I'm based nin Northgate but can travel somewhat, i'm looking for T+E, ASL and GMT games. Where has the ext selection I tried Fire and Sword but not a great selection

I've been to Eagle Games in lake City (not too far from Northgate).
Also, Uncle's games (two stores) in Redmond and Crossroads(Bellevue).
Also can check Oroboros games in Redmond and Games & Gizmos in Redmond.

If you're in the area Friday evenings, drop by Uncle's in Redmond for their open gaming nights. A wide selection of games are available to try - and a 10-15% (I forget which) discount on purchases if you play a game during the evening.

Good luck!

OK,

Gary's Games - 85th And Greenwood - best selection in Seattle.
Berserk games - 70th and Phinney (Greenwood turns into Phinney as you go south), storefront for an online seller. Lower prices but less selection.

Let me know if you need directions. Would love to play, but got the in-laws visiting so...

Agreed. These are your two best options.

For a good wargame selection the only option is Eagle hobbies in Lake City (quite close to Northgate). If memory serves, they have a fairly nice selection of ASL, not much from GMT, though I've certainly seen the occasional game there. Gary's Games also carries some GMT but seldom a huge selection. If you are able to make it across the lake you might also try Games and Gizmos in Redmond.

To all my geekfriends, I know I haven't been around much lately, but BGG is still my homepage and everyone is still in my heart everyday. Just so damn busy!

Hey Ben - if you're going to be in Northgate - just a short jaunt farther north is Cardhaus games. They're located in Lynnwood near the Alderwood Mall. Very good prices, but not sure how their selection is right now. Most popular games are availabe I think, but you can always check online. www.cardhaus.com
Cardhaus Games
2027 196th Street SW, Suite A105
Lynnwood, Wa 98036
425.712.1206

From Northgate Mall area, probably about a 15-20 minute drive, depending on traffic.

Consider stopping by Metro Seattle Gamers for our weekly Tuesday Night session:

This is an invitation to all BGG'ers to join us at Metro Seattle Gamers for Tuesday Night Open Boardgaming. The club is located just north of downtown Seattle, and we start playing around 6:30 p.m.

This week I have no idea what we'll be playing. I'm bringing Modern Art, along with all the stuff we've played the last couple of months: Ra, Princes of Florence, and Winds of Plunder. I anticipate that we'll have two tables going, so please bring anything you'd like to play, and note the club has an extensive game collection available. We talk about what we'll play the following week as we wrap up each Tuesday.

I've been asked by a few BGG'ers about how much joining MSG costs. The first visit is always free and remains free until I use up my monthly guest passes.

The club is located at 1600 W Armory Way, #C-106, Seattle, WA, 98119-2730. The phone number is 206.781.0047. If you have any trouble spotting the door, just call the number and someone will come out to the parking lot to flag you in.

Hope to see you there.

Any update since 2007 ? Is Gary's game still the place to go? I'll be there in march and intend to buy some cheap(er) games than in london.

If you want cheap - www.Cardhaus.com in Lynnwood has a huge/cheap selection, just about 5 min north of Seattle. It's a small shop with not a whole lot on display, but they have a very large inventory and the prices are great if you have a list of games already.

Gary's Games is still there, and is like a decades old gaming staple in Seattle. I don't think Berserk is still there, but now there is Card Kingdom in the Ballard neighborhood, which is HUGE, and a cool place to just hang out. There is also Greenlake Games, which I just went to for the first time last night, and it seemed nice. Smaller space, but definitely crammed full of stuff.

Re: Games Stores in Seattle
Since we're expanding the definition of Seattle, I'll also expand the definition of "Game Store".

If you have transportation, I would recommend the AFK Tavern in Everett.

No games to buy, but what's not to love about a tavern that focuses on catering to the gaming community.

SO I have tried both Gary's Games and Blue Higway Games.

Staff at BHG were very friendly and there was a good selection of games well presented in a big airy, familly and gamers friendly shop. There is nice playing area with a large selection of games to try. I however found that they were not that knowledgeable: they did not know Core Worlds, which I was looking for and did not have any Fudge dice (which I am not sure were known to them either). But I spent 2 hours in the shop so it was overall very nice to be there.

GG was further away from downtown. There is a larger selection of games but they are more expensive and the shop could do with some redecoration, it does feel grotty and decayed. Staff was not very engaging but I found both Core Worlds and Fudge dice! The area is a bit scary compared to Queen Anne, but I was not there for the scenery. There is a playing area too and a number of games but the shop was pretty much empty.

In both cases I got a taxi called by the local Safeway, which is quite funny coming from the UK.

It was nice to visit both shops but I would recommend checking BHG first if you have not much time and know what you want, and then GG if you can't find what you are looking for and really really want it.

The prices at Card Kingdom tend to be lower. Did you really find Gary's to be more expensive than Blue Highway? I find them both to be the same.

Also you should check out Green Lake Games on Aurora.
