Okay, I downloaded and am all setup. How do I update the wiki?
Never mind, I read through and figured it out.
Already up to 5/250!

Just be sure to update the Wiki again once you have a completed WU. This does not necessarily mean once you have completed the full 250 parts of your current WU, this is when your statistics show that you have completed the WU, which can take 24 hours or more to update at times

Doesn't look like much is going on here lately. Is this project still running? I downloaded the client and have begun running it. Though I don't know if it's doing anything.

We're still going strong ... http://kakaostats.com/t.php?t=169927

And, you should have a little F@H icon on your toolbar. Hover your mouse over it to see your progress on the current unit ...

According to http://kakaostats.com/t.php?t=169927, we have 1190 participants. But if you select the "Active" filter at the top of the page, you'll see only 384 are active.

Certainly still running Catanstrophe. Geekgold clears at the start of the month. As per my earlier comments, make sure your stats on Stanford actually reflect that you have completed a WU before updating the Wiki to gain the mb microbadge, not just when your client says you have completed one. Can take up to 24 hours to reflect

After your first 10(?) WUs you should start getting a variety of them rather than just 250 & 1000 sized units.

Where can I go for some advice on this? My computer always gets about half way through and then switches to a new group. It's happened 3 different times so it never finishes a full set.

Are you talking about the progress on your client? Ie when it shows say "100/2500"? The Client has a tendency to show the WUs as if they are frozen, but in most cases the back end of a WU loads out really quick.

I ignore the client most of the time, check your F@H stats (right click on the client and view personal stats) to see where you are up to.

Bare in mind it takes a little while for the data to reflect on the stats page, but if your sure that it's crashing out on WUs and not loading the back half you may want to make sure you are giving full admin access to F@H. It may be requiring to use system process you have blocked.

Let me know how you go

I perhaps should have been clearer on this. On Windows clients (may be same for Macs?) for both standard F@H as well as the GPU clients, which are almost identical, you need to right click and select "Configure".

Select the "Connection" tab and then check the box that refers to downloads larger than 10mb Voila, larger WUs after your first several. I kinda glazed over that, I'm a settings junkie when I get anything new (games, programs, hardware, etc.) so it's second nature to me

Joined 2 days ago. Have a decent few number of units complete already!

Now, I wait for the microbadge. ^_^

I really like this initiative too. I used to do SETI rather heavily years back. This is just like that, only for something more terrestrial.

Yeah me too! Although.. I don't remember SETI being quite so taxing on the system resources. Mine take so long they expire before they are done!

No.. I got really close to finishing a 250.. then it deleted and started over as another 10,000. If I can't finish a 250 on time there's no way of doing a 10,000. Maybe I just need to not be doing this on my laptop.

Do you use "Oliphant" as your username on F@H? I can have a look into what might be going on for you. If it's any reassurance though a new WU shouldn't start until the previous is completed. That's not to say your lappy isn't acting "hinky".

Yeah.. it's the same name.

But check this out:

in my log I'll get almost done and it records something like this:

[17:47:35] Completed 205000 out of 250000 steps (82%)
[17:47:35] Unit 6's deadline (January 22 10:44) has passed.
[17:47:35] Going to interrupt core and move on to next unit...

And I never get credited for it because I always miss the deadline.

But once this happened:

[02:28:34] Completed 6800000 out of 10000000 steps (68%)
[03:11:39] Completed 6900000 out of 10000000 steps (69%)
[03:36:55] + Working...
[03:54:54] Completed 7000000 out of 10000000 steps (70%)
[04:17:07] CoreStatus = 1 (1)
[04:17:07] Sending work to server
[04:17:07] Project: 10083 (Run 3, Clone 18, Gen 66)
[04:17:07] - Error: Could not get length of results file work/wuresults_02.dat
[04:17:07] - Error: Could not read unit 02 file. Removing from queue.
[04:17:07] - Preparing to get new work unit...

I have no idea.. but that was a lot of work for my poor lappy.
