Now I have the 'perfect' solution which is free and takes no time.

DON'T CLIP!

I view it as realising 'counter clipping' is a solution in search of a problem.

I picked up this cutter after seeing Mr. Perrella sing its praises and based on the results I have had with DVG Designs "U-Boat Leader" this thing is the real deal. It is fast and accurate. I have been very critical of the C-4 counter cutter (with good reason in my opinion) and this Corner cutter blows the socks off that.

I do not know how well it will work on 1/2" counters but I am thinking that if the info is not _too_ close to the edges it will be fine.

A great purchase and worth the money (it is a quality, well made item) for this old wargamer.

Mine showed up today... it's great. I'm not sure I'd want to use it on small counters, but anything larger than 1/2" seems like a no-brainer.

It does work on 1/2", but you have to go slow & position the counter more carefully. I've now clipped 4 games with it, 2 at 5/8" & 2 at 1/2", and never clipped any counter info off a corner - but there have been a few mis-shapen 1/2" counters, and far far fewer 5/8".

Just got mine today, and it is awesome. Will never use my C4 again! Thanks for the heads up. Off to clip everything in Unhappy King Charles now.

Edit: finished clipping all of Unhappy King Charles (which doesn't have many counters) in under an hour. It's pretty fast too. Works better on the larger counters than the tiny ones.

I got mine from a local business here in Warsaw. Judging by the photos it's the exact same thing down to the handle colour. Works like a dream on thick counters from Band of Brothers: Screaming Eagles. They look great with rounded corners, exactly like the new GMT deluxe editions. They were so thick though that my hand got really tired even though there is only one and half counter sheet in the game.

It's from "Mystery Men", which is a very funny movie about superheroes with oddball powers. (My favorite is the guy who can turn invisible, but only when no-one's looking at him.) It also features Geoffrey Rush, who I think also think is very funny, as a villain named Casanova Frankenstein. It's worth watching if you haven't seen it.

Nice results. But I guess you can only clip one counter at a time with this thing?

You could get 3 friends and with 4 clippers you can simultaneously get a counter clip in a Olympic synchronized fashion!

Alright fine... I bought one too. I have been a huge can of the C4 for it's powerful efficiency, so we'll see if this really is all it's clipped up to be.

Ha! Yeah, I've been thinking the same thing

Just finished clipping my Lock N Load collection last night, even my stepson (who is not a gamer, despite years of effort on my part) said "damn, those look sexy"

First sign of a problem - one of the nuts securing the hinges fell off last night! Possibly I'm overusing it...

Screwed back on no problem though...

It appears that it's designed to be taken apart in order to replace (or sharpen) the cutter, so I don't think this is a problem.

I hope this won't be necessary. The guy who sold mine (I bought locally) showed me the tool he's been using since 1992, or so he claimed, and it looked pretty much the same, except the blade was a little loose around the top notch that holds it in place. He admitted that the blade can be replaced (but only with the same radius blade, no larger no smaller) but he claimed he had never done it.

Have any of you guys been able to compare this to the Crop-a-dile mentioned upthread? The reason I ask is because (when you factor in shipping) the Crop-a-dile is half the price ($20 vs. $40) on Amazon.

Two of us responded to that already... but for clarity's sake: While the Crop-o-dile works well enough on cardstock and laminated stuff (as long as you're willing to flip it and cut twice when necessary to clean up the edge) I wouldn't trust it on a cardboard counter.
