Oh, no disagreement here. I mostly meant that I wouldn't mind if photos were to get placed in the personal gallery first, not videos or other content. I'm not sure a single across-the-board system would work for all media types. But yeah, sorry, I just meant photos. Because I find those galleries to be a mess. I mostly use the photo galleries to verify that I have a game set up correctly. But the game photo galleries tend to preemptively answer three questions I never ask: "Has anyone's hot wife/friend/girlfriend ever played this game?" "I wonder what a game group's facial expressions are while playing this game?" and "I wonder if anyone has ever Instagrammed the meeple from this game?"

I think the photo galleries have taken a step forward with the ability to filter photos into categories like components, box front, box back, etc.

But, it's still harder than it should be and could be streamlined and improved. I should be able to easily see a photo of components, or "game in play," and block out all the customized and home-made versions that I have no interest in for "new-to-me" games.

And I realize that I'm not even sure how photos are categorized, whether it's up to the submitter to take on that task, or random volunteers, or what. If it's just on a post-submission volunteer basis, that might be why it's not a very effective system right now.

If you want to see how a game looks out of the box, choose the Game gallery. Customized components go in the Creative gallery. There's also a People gallery. These galleries are chosen by the uploader at the time of uploading the image.

Am I missing something? All I see are 'Game', 'People' and 'Creative'.

The Category drop-down has box-front, box-back, customized, and components. But one of the problems is that "customized" and "components" are not mutually exclusive. So someone who paints their pieces or makes home-made components might submit it under "components." So if you're looking to see what a game looks like out-of-box, it can be tricky from my experience.

Thanks, so actually if I choose BOTH Game AND Components it seems to filter out anything not straight out-of-the-box. Assuming the uploader did the right categories.
Cool, I learned something new from this thread

Yes, but uploaders only have to choose the gallery (Game/People/Creative), and choosing the other categories is hit or miss, so not getting results doesn't mean there aren't images there.

Indigo Potter, you seem to be an admin; is there an appeals process where I can get the video re-evaluated; as this thread makes clearly, it shouldn't have been denied.

I'm the image admin - I really don't know much about videos, sorry. Checking the admin page, I'm not sure who would be the go-to person for videos. Possibly skelebone.

Ah - one has to navigate away from the game's page.

No wonder I couldn't see it.

I just did my first moderation, and it was your video, Enrico. I rejected it for the following reasons:
- trading in the renaissance has been done a lot.
- irrelevant, the game is old, let's only talk about new stuff.
- paper money. I hate paper money to the point I am offended by it. Offensive.
- no music intro? Insulting.

I am kidding, of course. But what if somebody had voted as above?

It's happened.

I embedded the vids elsewhere, and said the hell with
it. Place might be the biggest outlet, but it shan't stay
that way for long, if they keep driving people away by various
policies. Seen a lot of sites fail. Anyone remember MySpace?

Actually if you're just browsing images, all you have to do is go to the games image gallery and it's right there (I guess click "browse" in the image you uploaded).

Here's what it looks like in the ConHex image gallery, with the drop-down expanded:

I recently tried to upload a video I created using youtube phenomenon clip from "Downfall" starring Bruno Ganz as Hitler. I have on previous occasions uploaded other Hitler Playing boardgame parodies, these videos have been immensely popular both on my youtube channel at here at the geek.

My Most recent video of Hitler playing Dixit has not been approved.

" We're sorry that we couldn't use the recent video (youtube AdtEdrb-QfI) that you uploaded to BGG related to Dixit Odyssey, and it was removed it from the system.

Reasons:
40% Offensive
50% Irrelevant
20% Other (specify)

Comments (optional):
Been done too much
just english subtitles with german voice is kind of weak"

As you will be able to view if you actually watch the video, I did not use any swear words (though several videos that have have been uploaded) nor disparage anyone. I uploaded it under the Humor category, I do not see how it is irrelevant. Comments such as "Been done too much" seems to suggest if a game already has lets say 3-4 reviews uploaded, no more reviews should be uploaded, since the review of that particular game has "been done to too much" Comments such as "just english subtitles with german voice is kind of weak" seem to be the modder's personal opinion of the quality of the upload, not that it is illicit content.

What this appears to be is the geekmodders have set themselves up to be censors, imposing their own personal views and biases to determine what is acceptable here at BGG.

I would like to hear from others in the community about their thoughts on the matter.

Maybe someone else mentioned this, but the producers of Downfall have been defending their copy write on Youtube and getting them all removed.

It's probably best that they didn't allow it.

ASL ... yes, this is my Desert Island Game. If I have to give up all my 3000+ games and only allowed to keep one, this would be it. This bloody game stood the test of time. Around for more than 25 years - simply the best.

AGES ago, that has been resolved long long ago. It is parody under US copyright law and is legitimate.
