CentOS will be running an implementation of Wine to emulate Windows 7. Windows 7 will run in XP mode to support a Motorola 68000 emulation for Apple System 8.6. The Mac OS is necessary to run Aldie's MAME version of Space Invaders, and the occasional game of M.U.L.E. with the Atari 800 emulator.

Thumbed for referencing M.U.L.E.

No mention of server make and model? Number of CPU cores? Speed and number of network cards? Does bgg use iscsi or a real SAN?

It's SHODAN from the game System Shock (1&2). Can make anyone nervous. A great game.

You just fired me up to want to play this again. Well, SS2 anyway, it's the only one I have.

Great news! Looking forward to seeing all the geeks try and fill up the space available!

They have 192 GB of RAM each, and run CentOS virtualized on top of Proxmox (to allow for easy remote administration).

We also upgrades the servers sheep, wheat, and wood to 192 GB of RAM each, for improved caching.

Thanks again to everyone for their generous support in our recent fund drive!

:) May one of them go medieval on your buttocks while you sleep. :)

If these three get together and start talking smack behind your back you are in deep dodo.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like the transition has caused some DNS propagation issues. I haven't been able to access videogamegeek at all today.

I'm actually quite curious as to when this photo was taken. It says than in 50 years, this might be feasible. My guess is that it happened much earlier than that.

1954 as you can calculate by 2004 - 50 (both number mentioned in the text).

Also: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/hoaxes/computer.asp

Yea. Definitely they didn't anticipate Moore's law

Ah, I completely missed that.

One might say that scientific progress more than fulfilled their expectations. When were the computers like that? 1970? Earlier? The Commodore 64 was made in 1982, right? They already had transistors when this photo was taken.
