When we played last night a confusing issue arose.

Two heroes were standing in the bunker in "Rescue mission". Outside, in an adjacent space, stood a zombie hero. The layout looked like this:

AAAA
ZXH
X
X

(The graph is a bit escewed, hope it's somewhat explanatory)

The As is a barricaded wall, the X is a reinforced barricaded wall, the H is the two heroes and the Z is the zombie hero. In the zombie movement phase the zombie player rolled a 6 on the movement, allowing the zombie hero to move 3 spaces. This movement would allow the zombie hero to move around the reinforced wall and pass over the barricaded wall.

Now, to my question. Do zombie hunger force the zombie hero to try and claw its way through the reinforced wall, or does it use the path of least resistance?

I think the zombie hunger forces the zombies to move the shortest possible way, ie. through the reinforced barricade towards the heroes. Zombies hasn't left too much brain to think... zombie

Zombie Hunger states that if a zombie is adjacent to a hero, the zombie must move into the hero's space.

Notice that the rule doesn't say must end it's move in the heroes space.

This means that the zombie has to immediately go for the hero and in this case would not be able to work it's way around to end it's move in the hero's space.

This zombie hero is going to have to get to the heroes the hard way!

I would agree with these two answers.

I think thematically it represents the zombies mindlessly trying to get at the heroes since they cannot pause and reason that there might be an easier way to get through on the other side of the building, etc.

I don't agree there. Zombie hunger only limit the Zombie movement IF it's in adjent squares. Since the zombie is still another square away, the zombiemaster is still free to move the zombie as he like. And therefor use the Zombie Heros extra movement to get around.

As for theme, there are plenty of movies where the heroes barricade the obvious entrance into a building only to get attacked from another weak spot moments later. And since it also is a Zombie Hero, a kind of antagonist, it is more then welcome to turn up the pressure on its former allies by sneaking around and give them a nasty suprise.

Update: Wait a sec, the barricade is maybe not an extra square as I thought from first look at your little map? If zombie ARE at adjent squares, he must go straight forward as the others said above, and can't sneak around as the hunger are to powerful.

Yeah, the map got kinda sketchy, I figured out a way to make it more clear but it is a little late as I got such good answers already. Thank you all for your input
