Card Sleeves?
Are there any card sleeves for Catan that don't require you to cut them down?

Mayday is supposed to be coming out in the Spring with a sleeve to fit the Catan cards. I find it amazing that there is not a sleeve for a game that is so popular.

I have used the Mayday 56mm * 87mm (2 1/4" * 3 1/2") sleeves and just trimmed about 4mm off their length.

Regards

Mayfair sells replacement cards, which is probably cheaper than sleeving the cards. I've owned Settlers for about 8 years, and I've replaced the cards once.

After reading this thread i got a little sad that people are not really looking before they ask anymore. There is a page that even boardgamegeek.com has a banner to on the page. http://www.coolstuffinc.com/ is its name. They have sleeves for everything, and just so you dont get lost on the page it self here is a link directly to the sleeves : http://www.coolstuffinc.com/p/Board%20Games/Mini+European+Bo...

Now i dont know if the cards for catan differ that much from the european ones but thees are exact the size for my cards. My game is a norwegian one so im guessing if there is a differens you are screwed hehe.

Believe me I've looked! The Catan cards in the Mayfair edition are 54mm x 80mm (the mini-euro is 44mm x 68mm). As I posted above, Seth from Mayday Games indicated that in the Spring they will sell a sleeve that will fit the Mayfair edition cards without trimming.

Ya the American Catan cards are bigger then that, I'll assume because most Americans hate cards that small. Anyway on the replacement front I mainly wanted sleeves because I don't think you can get replacements for Traders and Barbarians. Also I thought it would be nice to organize everything with dividers in a seperate box because I don't like how messy the boxes can be, and the 5-6 expansion cards won't fit into some of the original boxes. Ya I am pretty crazy about sleeving and organizing stuff but hey not like I play on getting rid of Catan anytime soon, so I'm in it for the long haul.

After reading this reply I got a little sad that people are not trying to understand the situation before they condescend. There is a page that even boardgamegeek.com has with information on where DOAisBetter lives. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/user/DOAisBetter is its name. It says he lives in Texas, so its a pretty good bet that he doesn't have the Norwegian version.

I could also point out that there is a giant list of games and what sleeves to use for that game. Settlers of Catan is here on that list. The original poster already knows about this, because he can see that the sleeves listed as fitting his game are too tall, necessitating a trimming of said sleeves. Hence the request for "sleeves for Catan that don't require you to cut them down"

Minor thread necromancy here but for those still interested in Catan-sized card sleeves Ultra Pro is also supposed to release 54x80mm sleeves in their Board Game Sleeves series later this month.

AFAIK MSRP is $2.99 for a pack of 50. And apart from SoC, those sleeves should also finally enable us to sleeve cards from old European versions of some Games Workshop games like Space Crusade and HeroQuest, which is pretty much the reason I had been scouring the Internet myself questing for sleeves coming with those same dimensions.

It was mentionned earlier that Mayday is supposed to release similar sleeves soon but I could not find any additional information about those so far.

Hope it helps !

Do the sleeves fit very snugly or do they allow the cards a tiny bit of movement? I ask because I hate it when sleeves are too wide and then bunch up or fold up/over the sides of the cards.

We have these coming out in the next couple of months, it will be 54 X 80 and not 50 X 80 as stated. We are fixing that soon!

question about these sleeves. are they the thicker stiff kind or are they the thin flimsy kind? i'm looking for thicker ones so as to keep my cards from bending.

These are the standard (non-thick) version. 100 per pack and $2.25 per pack.

Will this size also fit the 3rd Edition? If not, what size will?

Sorry for the delay, they will be releasing around the end of the month, they should be shipping to us by early next week via boat. Coming soon we promise! I believe the cards for both 3rd and 4th edition are the same so you should be fine!

FWIW, our ancient club copies are also this size (c) Mayfair 1997 on the box...

Cheers,
