Hi All, just wanted to invite whoever can make it to the 6th open game night at Rumbletum Cafe. I was hoping to do a game night sooner , but between other commitments, and a family trip to florida coming up, as well there is an Elmira Game day on Feb 18 that I didn't want to interfere with,so before you know it, Feb 25 is the next available time.

DESCRIPTION : Sit down and have a good time playing old favorite strategy boardgames, discover a new one, play with friends, make new ones in a relaxing atmosphere. Anyone is welcome. even if you don't know any boardgames beyond Monopoly and are wondering what the heck we are doing, come and check it out.

WHEN : Saturday, Feb 25, 7pm until whenever.

WHERE : Rumbletum Cafe & Gifts, 1895 Sawmill Rd. Conestogo, ON. Just outside of Waterloo, near the Black Forest Inn. (go north on Northfield Dr., and turn R at the lights in Conestogo.) here's a maplink:

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=rumbletum%20cafe&um=1&ie...

COST : The cost will be 3$, but all the money goes to prizes, in the form of gift certificates for board games at Rumbletum ( yes we do sell games!) which will be determined by doing a random draw (or 2 if there are enough people).

There will be coffee, soft drinks and some snacks available on a self serve basis for a reasonable cost, (no pressure though, but appreciated)

WHAT TO BRING : Bring any strategy game (or two) you own and want to play. Or, just bring yourself, and there will
be plenty of games to choose from to join in and play. I will have a number of games to play including: Troyes,Merchants and Marauders,
Power Grid, Mansions of Madness, 7 Wonders, At the Gates of Loyang, Le Havre, Agricola, Merkator,Stone Age, Tobago, Survive, Zombie State, Pillars of the Earth, Inca Empire,Princes of Florence, Navegador, Airlines:Europe, Cuba, Caylus, and lots more.

A selection of games available for sale at great prices also.

Here's a link of the games for sale with prices:

http://www.rumbletumcafe.ca/?page_id=28

MORE INFO : There is room for 20-24 people or so, with some various table sizes ranging from largish to smallish. Come early for better table/game selection as this is a first come/first play experience.

Any questions call 519-648-3314 or 519-664-1820 and ask for Quinn or pm me here on the geek

Hope to see lots of people playing and having fun

Generally speaking, things have gone about as far as they can possibly go, when things have gotten about as bad as they can reasonably get.

Haven't got family plans nailed down yet, but so far that evening looks good for me.

I got far too many games for Christmas that would be great to bring to the table, anyone have any interest in Dominant Species or Eclipse?

I am definitely interested in both of those games. I haven't picked up Dominant Species because it just seems too long for my regular group. Eclipse looks awesome.

I'll be there! The only disappointment is having to wait so long!

Also, thanks to everyone who played Area 51 at the game nights this fall. It's been sent off to the publisher for further testing.

Don't think that means I won't be bringing a different prototype, though

I played Dominant Species at HammerCon in the fall. Awesome game, but long. I would suggest having a person who has played the game, be involved (or at least someone who has read the rules a few times). We had one awesome guy, who had played the game a few times, and it really helped us not get too confused, and kept the pace moving.

I got a bunch of games over Christmas too I want to try. However, I think I already promised Sen to bring the Belfort "prototype" expansion to try out. So thats one game I will be sure to play, if others are interested.

Looking forward to this event. Last event was my first, and it was great. Highly recommend anyone thinking about coming out - you should come - its a great group of people.

Great news! I'll, once again, try to make it. I'll even put it in my calendar so I won't forget.

I hope.

Confirmed that the grandparents can watch our 5 month old! Looks like my wife and I will be there!

If anyone is interested in learning/playing Uruk: Wiege der Zivilisation let me know. I have a copy that just doesn't get enough play time.

Any chance the Rumbletum website could have a post about this event? I have tried to invite a couple friends to this event, and the only way I could explain the event in detail was linking to this forum, but they aren't BGG people yet, and it can seem intimidating. Thanks.

Re: KW Area RUMBLETUM Open Board Game Night SAT , Feb 25
I just learned Amyitis on Board Game Arena and am loving it. If anyone has a copy they'd be willing to bring I would love the chance to play! Still not very good, but at least I'll know what I'm doing.

BGG intimidating? Naah... they can come on here, read through the thread, maybe it's confusing, so sign up for an account and ask a question or two, then get attacked for trolling, not doing their research, given a lecture about the current state of boardgaming...

Yeah, I'll second that suggestion to be put on the Rumbletum website...

Want to echo Kevin's words. I had a great time. Thanks again for teaching me two great games. I enjoyed Airlines Europe & Carson City. And managed to buy a few games too!

Completely agreed. Fantastic event.

I got to try the newest incarnation of Stefan's "The Cows of Parma" as well as teach Airlines Europe and Through the Desert and learn The Speicherstadt. It's the first time I ever won a non-Ra auction game.

Thanks for hosting, Quinn.

... at my expense, right on the very last turn, bumping me down to second-last place.

I think the only problem you were having with previous auction games is you didn't have me there to steal points from

A great night, as usual, got to play 4 games, including 3 new ones, and ate too many of those good cookies.

I wasn't able to attend this time, but that's because my wife and I were tending to our four-day old daughter!

Hopefully next time.
