A lot of online game stores offer free shipping if your order is over $75 or over $100. But all the stores I've seen only offer the free shipping in the Continental US. Do you know of any stores that can offer free shipping to Hawaii?

Hello Ronald!

We offer the following:

On a single order greater than $100.00 (US Dollars) for Domestic Orders outside the continental United States, there is a 5% discount on product purchased. This does not apply to shipping and insurance costs.

Let us know if we can be of service.

Book depository but their packaging can be variable (there is a geek list to help crackdown games... Searching for them isn't easy unless it's fantasy flight).

Maelstrom Games in uk, good packaging.

These are the only ones I know of.

Thanks for the info everyone! I'm hoping to order a copy of Eclipse when it gets reprinted and maybe some additional stuff if I can afford it.

Actually, we're having a serious problem with volcano generated "smog" right now. gulp So don't visit paradise any time in the next month or two!

Hello Ronald!

Oh come on now! What's a little air quality with you have active valcanos and seven temperate climate zones on one island (asuming you are on the Big Island)! ...and a new island is being created at this very moment! My wife and I went there a couple of years ago and loved it. Would go back in a heart beat with air tanks and heat suits just to see the lava being shot up in the sky. If we had more time, we would have tagged all the geocaches there too! Alass we did not tag the one geocache by Pu`u `Ō `ō crater which is now gone...

Oh no, that's the scary part. I live on Oahu. We're still getting enough smog to cause health problems two islands away.

But yes, on the bright side, my descendents are going to love the new island

Ronald,

If you want free shipping to Hawaii, your only choice is Amazon. Don't bother with Amazon Prime either. You'll get the same shipping times as a regular Amazon member.

The only other feasible options are:

Boards & Bits, while still expensive charge pretty close to actual postage. Sometimes, I've received packages where postage was more than quoted.

CLSGames is another option. They're pretty close to actual postage, but they also charge a PayPal fee, which brings the cost up a bit.

BoardGameHaus is decent as they're one of the few retailers that give you the option to select USPS Priority Shipping. Still costly, but not as much as FedEx or UPS.

Lastly is TheWarStore. If you want to place a smaller order, TheWarStore can't be beat. Flat shipping fee of $5.95 and they use USPS Priority Mail.

Hope that helps.

The struggle with being online retailer, trying to offer the best price possible, is the cost of shipping which eats up a marginal profit quickly and at what point do you offer free shipping and still turn some dollars to continue in business. We are going to look at what we can do after reading your question to offer some discount % for those in Alaska and Hawaii and foreign buyers so they receive some consideration but when you only turn a few bucks after shipping in the 48 states it seems impossible to do much more than discount the shipping if you are not a mega retailer.

Thanks for the info! I can see why free shipping is a bit unrealistic for everyone other than Amazon.

I'm also going to check if my local game store can do a special order. The retail price with 1-month slow boat shipping might end up being a lot cheaper than the air-mail price.

Re: Any Online Stores Offering Free Shipping To Hawaii?
I've seen items on Amazon that are sold by a retailer, but fulfilled by Amazon, which makes it eligible for free shipping. Not sure of all the details, I'm sure Amazon is taking a cut, but the retailer should by getting something too. It's also good to compare between your FLGS and those online. I recently paid $40 for a game locally, even though I could've paid $30 with free shipping through Amazon. In this case, I didn't want to wait for the game, but I also like to support local businesses as much as possible.

"visit"? If the smog affects the locals it'll most likely affect you. And if you come to Maui you probably won't be able to handle the "hail" (black ash from burning sugar cane). And living in paradise we can make higher than middle wage here and still live in low income square footage (compared to the places we would get for what we paid in most parts of the mainland).
