I've started two VASSAL games this month.

Bastogne and Totaler Krieg!. This is my first play with both of them and I am really enjoying the experience.

VASSAL is great! thumbsup

I am ready to clip those counters as well, especially now that I know that I will be getting a new set with the expansion. I had been a bit hesitant to punch and clip these because I had heard they were tough to punch and clipping is tricky because you don't want to 'mark' these counters, with the hidden info aspect. Now I know if I screw these up, I will have a back up set headed my way!

Sleeved the cards for Fighting Formations: Grossdeutschland Motorized Infantry Division, Domination (fan created hybrid of the Battletech CCG and Dominion) and the cards one needs to shuffle in Hornet Leader: Carrier Air Operations.

Coated the FF:GID counters and those for A Week In Hell: The Battle of Hue. Need to punch the Hornet Leader counters now, but I'm still waiting for my counter clipper.

Edited to get the tags working...

Getting ready for our annual monster Advanced Civilization game at the end of the month. Have 7 committed and several pending, but we limit it to 8. And it is definitley an all day event, with the grilling of meat, great snacks, and friends to insult.

And technically its NOT a wargame, usually.

But with our group, you can count on a few, or about half, or maybe even most, will have clothmaking and astronomy early for sailing, along with metalworking and engineering for combat...and there will be bloody combat. angry

There will also be the sharks and vultures nearby to pick out the juicy morsels of the defeated, and potentially even take the survivor down a notch or so (more juicy morsels!!!)devil
if he objects.

Vengence with the card trades, vengence with the calamaties, and straight up war...just as the old days ought to be

What do you use to coat counters? I'd like to coat my Sergeants! On the Eastern Front counters since they seem to be bleeding ink, and also my Print and play game counters, but am worried about using something that will interact with the ink and cause bleeding or fading (or stickiness).

Coating off of an artist's supply shop (Lukas Sprühfilm matt). I received a used copy of FAB: The Bulge which was already coated and I liked the texture. Doesn't seem to be bleeding color yet. As for stickiness, I'm letting things dry for at least a week before punching and storing the counters...

Clipping the counters for Meatgrinder, from ATO #33. My last wargaming magazine subscription was S&T in the 1980s, so I am quite pleasantly surprised at the quality of the artwork on both the counters and map. The extra color hints on the counters, for example, aren't distracting and yet aid in unit identification during play. Nice.

I already have a set of the new counters and they are much easier to punch out than the old ones but like you I was hesitant to clip these too. I'm glad we are getting another set in the expansion.

Having just finished punching and clipping Stalingrad Pocket (second edition), I was ready to go on to do the same (plus stickering) my newly acquired copy of Asia Engulfed when I decided to take a detour to prep a game which I am giving as a gift to an old friend. My buddy had Starship Troopers years ago but traded it away and has wanted a new copy for awhile now. I found one on eBay and am currently inventorying and clipping counters. I'll also go ahead and include some extra scenarios from The General in the box, as an extra bonus. Got most of the Skinnies clipped tonight!

I actually won't be prepping it till tomorrow, (because that's when it's supposed to arrive) but I will be sleeving cards and punching counters (I don't clip, never have never will) for Sun of York, then after me and my dad finish our game of Combat Commander: Pacific, we will give it a go.

Now prepping Infidel and Case Yellow 1940, and yes, I'm using the C4 Corner Cutter. One thing I always do is download a copy of the rules or make a copy on the scanner. That way I can do all the underlining and highlighting I want, while the originals remain pristine at the bottom of the box.

Last night I set up Karelia '44 for this weekend. Counters clipped and rules read for a game with my FTF buddy. We've been gaming for about 30 years now. Looking forward to checking this one out.

I was a little disappointed in the counters. The black unit designations against the dark brown Soviet counters caused my steadily failing eyesight a lot of fits on set up. Hoping it gets better when we start pushing pieces around.

Edited for messing up the Geek User inclusion.
