Without giving too much away about the gameplay mechanics, I am designing a Steampunk themed train game. The back story is rival companies competing to become the best train service of the fictional Steampunk Victorian age.

So, I need a name and everything that I think of just don't seem to fit. Help me come up with a name and you will be mentioned in the credits when the game is produced. Thanks!!

If you going to use a Steampunk theme for rails then you probably want to provide a novel design for the trains running on rails. You could incorporate the idea of airships (which are steampunk by nature) with a rail design. You could use the idea of rails running TransAtlantic in a steam punk concept. Anyway these are the names I came up with along these themes:
Airship Rails
TransAtlantic Steam Rails
TransAtlantic Rails Inc.
Neo-Victorian Railway Inc.
The League of Steam
Gaslamp Rails

Good luck with the game.

Ha ha! Yes, I've been following Scott's game. My design is not like his and I definitely do not want to name mine anything close to "Kings of Air and Steam"!

Thanks Dave! I like the TransAtlantic idea. Maybe for an expansion if my game does well. I want to stay away from airships for now. Again, I might revisit that idea for an expansion.

Its a style, an idea, an imagining of modern technology in the Victorian age using materials that would have been available then. Steam powered robots, Tesla guns, airship cities, etc.

This video, for me, is one of the best representations of what "Steampunk" is in its essence. This is a trailer for the game Bioshock Infinite: http://youtu.be/pV_TDxl2UIo

Kinda weird with "steam powered trains" being the brilliance in a steampunk train game when the trains actually used steam.. Kinda kills the theme or difference to all other games. Maybe I just don't get it. What's the difference?

Now if it was air ships ..

Sorry Johan, you'll have to wait for the details. I will say this, the Airships in my game are too slow.

But steam-powered trains aren't modern technology, they're Victorian technology.

Or if they were on Mars. As it is it sounds a bit like 'Star Wars, but in space'.

Steam-powered trains with a fantastic, modern twist. Think Jules Verne. I guess you'll just have to wait and see what my vision is, James.

Steam trains - With brass! (duh? Well - Yes! Duh!)

But seriously, as said the attempts to create a name for me failed because the word steam didn't contributed to the title since there's nothing weird with steam trains.

Which got me thinking about the punk part, or rather punks, which got me thinking about graffiti and alternatively subway. Which got me thinking about steam-powered sub ways, which may not have existed in those days and could have some victorian style people in the stations or what not.

So what about "Subways in the steam age" (in the age of steam!? ;D) or whatever. Or just put them in the air as said...

Or make a graffiti in the victorian age game called Steam punks...

Steam wars?

What about a war game where the war machines was powered by steam?

There was something more I thought off ..

Trains in the age when they used steam! .. >

(For what it's worth, the London Underground metropolitan train system first ran in the 1860s, IIRC - well within the Victorian era - and that was originally all steam-powered.)
