OK, see you this Saturday at 3:30p. I'll post something on FB, too.

Tom

I'll try to make it by 5:30 but none of you have any reason to believe me.

Every Other Week due to my work and school schedule I can host small groups 4-6 people I don't have a collection of games out here yet as I haven't met any other board gamers but am willing to play almost anything. I live in the Valley and if anyone is interested Sat-Mon noon - Whenever starting the 4th would be my next block of time available.

With all of this talk of Saturday gaming, are there plans still to meet tonight?

Wouldn't have it any other way!

Games tonight at 5P. Sorry I haven't posted on FB yet, just been a busy week and slipped my mind. Heading there now!

I have a copy of Mage Knight I'm eager to try out. I've read through the instructions and I should be there about 5:30.

Regarding the recent website proposal, I just discovered this thing on BGG called a 'guild', which can be used to organize a local game group.

http://boardgamegeek.com/guild/home

Features:
- Member list
- Calender of events
- Combined game collection browsing
- Forums
- Image Gallery

It costs 10 geek gold to create one. Should we just try that?

If so, I only need 5.28 additional geek gold to create one.

Wow, that is way cool!

I am definitely not going to build an outside site since we have this resource available.

Let's give the guild a shot. I've updated the event (thanks to Jennifer).

I'll also try to add more events when they come up (like this Saturday).

Zach and I also asked the organizers of some of the other gaming events to post on the guild page. Hopefully they will, and it will become a good resource.

If you're reading this post and are the organizer of a gaming event, consider yourself also requested to post it on the guild page

So is anyone planning on going to Gencon or BGG.CON this year?

I know a couple of us in the group have touched on possibly going to BGG.CON. I've also got some friends (not in the area), that are planning on going to Gencon.

I'm actually pretty torn. BGG.CON will be awesome for just playing games. But! The boardgame room at Gencon last year was awesome. There was usually around 100 people in there, and over 200 at peak times. Plus, there is tons of shopping. There's a larger variety of games happening there than just Euro games. It will be mostly Euro games at BGG.CON, which is my preferred style, but I just thought I would throw it out there.

If there is more interest one or the other, or no interest at all, I thought I would toss it out there before making a decision. I think registration for Gencon has started and BGG.CON will start soon (and probably fill up in five seconds).

Joel,

I'd be up for either. My vote would be for BGG.CON as the focus is 100% on playing games. Last year was amazing. We were able to play new Essen games, some Holy Grail games from the BGG library, and also a couple epic games(the ones where I can never find enough people with enough time when I am at home).

By the fourth day, I was actually ready to take a break from gaming. I lost my notes but I we had nearly 60 hours of gaming completed when we called it a night on Saturday.

They are moving it to the Hilton this year which might increase the cost of the hotel, but will also increase the room. The one downside to the con last year was the noise level in the larer rooms could be unbearable and seats in the smaller rooms were hard to come by.

I think they've stated that it will be the weekend before Thanksgiving again, Thurdsay Nov 15th - Sunday Nov 18th. That's over my daughter's birthday so that might make things difficult for me.

We're getting even more tables in 2012 as well ... we should be able to host nearly 600 gamers of all types with the inclusion of 6' rounds and 5'x8' tables.

One of the organizers posted this in the Convention forum re: Gencon "Boardgame Room". whistle

I just wish I knew which releases were going to be better this year. Probably Essen over Gencon.... /shrug

I'm still I think a few years at least from getting to go to a real con, but if anyone's interested in a smaller one, next month is SaltCon in Salt Lake City on the 17th and 18th. It gets a few hundred attendees, has a few vendors and prizes and the like, but is mostly to game all day.

I'm rather strapped right now but if anyone is interested in a road trip, I may be able to squeeze a few pennies to make it work. I'd love to go as I have a number of friends I'd like to game with again down there, plus I have connection for numerous places to stay. However, I probably shouldn't.

I thought I'd mention it though, FWIW if nothing else someone may be down there and able to go who otherwise would not have heard about it

Re: Game Groups in Spokane,WA
We had a nice streak going for game design and playtest sessions at Board Game Nation. Are any of those folks lurking around here, or is there anyone else interested?

I've got one game in development now, and starting to work on another design, due in large part to the sessions at BGN. Just curious if anyone has interest in the area to design and/or playtest designs.

-Please note-
I posted this over in the Spokane Guild in a separate thread, so as not to muddy up this thread. So please respond over there. Wasn't sure how many people watch this thread versus watch the Guild.

Hi Gang,

Want to get the word out that The Gamer's Haven moved from Post Falls to the Spokane Valley.

We set up a Guild and have posted some pics to the gallery.

Lots of play space, very convenient location, professional staff and has been in business for many years. I hope to see some of you down there.

Here are the links for those that are interested:

Thanks for this, Gregg! We had a good group there last night in the upstairs room and even lured some of the L5R guys over to play a few. I'll probably be there semi-regularly on Thursday nights around 6pm till whenever we get bored if anyone wants to join us
