I usually am able to escape, abandon my family, I mean get out of the house for a few hours on Sunday mornings, I'd like to find someone local to the "between north Seattle and Everett" area who'd like to get together and play one or more of the following games:

C&C Ancients
Twilight Struggle
Conflict of Heroes: SoS

Or whatever similar style two-player (or more) war games you might be interested in; these are just the ones that I would like to get more into and learn to play well. I've tried VASSAL, etc., just not the same as face to face.

I envision getting together somewhere with good coffee/espresso (ex. - Third Place in Lake Forest Park is nice - tables, etc. and a subsequent game group starting at noon) and obviously some table space. If this sounds like fun to anyone chime in and maybe we could even get a group thing going.

I've heard about Metro Seattle group, but that drive over to Ballard takes forever, just thought I might be able to rustle up some people on the north end for a "relaxed Sunday morning coffee beginner (or not) war game (or not) group".

Hi,

I can't do Sundays, but I'd be up for taking a shot at most things some other time. Probably on the light wargame/ heavy euro side. eg Space Empires 4x, Sekigahara: Unification of Japan, Conquest of the Empire.

I've just started playing memoir44 so I'd also be happy to 'upgrade' to anything else in the C&C universe.

Not sure how long I'll be in Shoreline (job-hunting) but in the short-medium term at least I'm happy to play something on a regular basis.

will drop you a geekmail,
john

Not exactly the place for wargaming, as such, but you could always try your luck at the AFK Tavern. They open at 11am on Sunday.

I've never really played any wargames but this sounds interesting. I'm in the North Seattle area.

I guess "wargame" is being mis-applied here, I just meant to suggest a heavier two player conflict game that usually involves some sort of military units or battles, etc...a game that my wife would roll her eyes at and that the typical game group would have a hard time accommodating...not necessarily a huge hex-based 5-hr wargame, although I would not be opposed to that or a heavy eurogame...how's that sound?

Anyone feel free to PM with time/games whatever and we'll get together.

Played A Few Acres of Snow on Sun.; what a great game - one of the few games that use deck building which I enjoyed, it really fits the theme well. I lost playing as the British by ignoring the French rapid expansion/settlement...

We'll hopefully be down again next Sun. to play Mage Knight...

Re: Relaxed Sunday morning beginner wargames and espresso? (North Seattle to Everett area)
If you moved it a little farther south I would be up for this or even on the eastside somewhere(I'm in kent) I would be up for every other sunday.

Work and babies led to a solitaire latte-fueled Conflict of Heroes: Storms of Steel! – Kursk 1943 firefight (FF5) this Sunday. The hidden units in the large balka was a cool element, trying to figure out the rules still, or at least get used to tracking APs and which units were spent, terrain mods., etc. Would really like to play this one f2f.

Anyone interested in a game of Wallenstein (second edition) tomorrow night down at Third Place?

It would be a learning game for me unless there's someone that's played it before...

Thanks!

Played an epic game of Twilight Struggle- man that game deserves it's spot in the ratings. I lost my second game by doing the same thing that I did wrong as the USSR in my first game, neglecting western Europe...but I lasted longer this time (late war). Awesome game.

mindfire - sure anytime, I just got some of those battlehexes that raise the terrain and was watching some tutorial videos earlier this week. I have random weeknights where I can play so shoot me an IM and/or come up to 3rd PL next Sun. I'll be there at 9.

I think we're planning a game of Nexus Ops, and possibly Ascending Empires for next Sun. if anyone wants to get in on that...

Well it turned out to be a Sci-Fi Sunday with games of Nexus Ops (with the cool black light pieces) and Ascending Empires (flicking/dexterity in space).

We agreed that the board/flicking issues some people reported in Ascending Empires were not that big of a deal and really enjoyed the game. I actually had it "for trade" but after playing have decided to hang onto it.

Nexus Ops was a lot of fun too, definitely a classic.

Next Sun., since as of right now there are two of us, Hammer of the Scots.
