This will be remedied with the reprint, which will be packaged in a 3" deep box. I wonder if they'd sell you a replacement box? Couldn't hurt to ask.

They're going to put the replacement box up on P500 for those who want it.

Cheers,

Sekigahara is great. I think the box is a good size. Fits almost exactly.

ASL ... yes, this is my Desert Island Game. If I have to give up all my 3000+ games and only allowed to keep one, this would be it. This bloody game stood the test of time. Around for more than 25 years - simply the best.

I just wanted to take a second and say that I really appreciate GMT for using appropriately sized boxes for much of their product.

I'll happily join the chorus here and want to add, that even the thickness and quality of the boxes' cardboard is much superiour compared to others.

I once read that you could build a house using GMT-boxes. I would try the size of Ancients and Dominant Species. Did anyone try it? Pictures?

Re: GMT Boxes (nothing of real merit in this post - do not click)

Agreed - the only game I would prefer to use as weaponry should 'they' attack is Titan. And that's mainly because of the sheer volume of cardboard on the inside, rather than the box.

As for box bludgeoning, I think it is quite hard to beat Dominant Species. I rate it strong to very strong in survival situations.

Definitely. If I had to choose one boardgame with which to fight my way out of a life-or-death situation, it would be Dominant Species.

+1 for GMT Boxes
Because of the sturdiness, sizes and shape of the GMT boxes they allow for more games to be stored in a confined space. Which is how my wife has limited my game acquisitions - "Only what fits in that closet."

Has she discovered the plan to enlarge the closet yet?

It is funny you should mention that ...
The closet is in the basement, which I recently finished. The rest of the basement has drywall ceilings, but the two closets do not have any ceilings at all (of course the is floor joists from the first floor would prevent stacking them infinitely). This was to allow access to plumbing and electrical systems if needed but it also gives me access to some bulk heads and more space (insert maniacal laughter here).

That's awesome.

I just tried putting everything back in there and it doesn't even come close to fitting.

Does P500 mean that 500 people have to pre-order the box?

GMT boxes are the best hands down. Their Dominant Species box clearly fought it out with the other boxes for domination. The FFG boxes are OK, they have room for expansions and my cardboard fixated cat.

Unlikely, they will simply add additional boxes to the reprint of the game. The P500 would be to gauge interest.
