Hi all, wanted to drop by and point you to a design blog I have started. Its for a game I am working on that's a bit further along than the other ideas I have, and is called Champions. Check out my blog:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/blog/1284/fistorian-games

So far, I have included a brief post introducing the game and its objectives, but a bigger post on one of the bigger ideas of the game, the Champions. Please feel free to drop any constructive feedback on each section that I post, as the initial draft of everything I have for the game is becoming too long for me to post all at once. Look forward to hearing from you all!

Small note. Theres allready a RPG and a MMO called Champions. The RPG has been around quite a while now. Though theres also been a UK TV series and comic so its not totally TMed at least.

Since your game looks to be a fantasy setting, should be no issues.

Thanks. I knew about the RPG/MMO, but not the TV series in the UK - that's the thing that scares me about the name actually. So many things are called 'Champions' that I'm not entirely sure that I can use the thing. I look in the video game industry and see lots of law suits from one company (Bethesday is the biggest example) to other companies and its a little daunting.

With that said, I think Champions as a name for a fantasy-setting game is ok, but I am also looking at other names to try and protect it from a potential lawsuit issue.

Updated my blog to include the rules information for combat, reviving and a little bit more information about the abilities and how they are used.

I've also added in these sections a small write up of examples for each of the three topics discussed here - how combat works, how you approach reviving a Champion and a couple of examples of how an ability works.

Hope you all enjoy. The next post will probably not be until Monday or Tuesday, being an English teacher my weekend will be busy with classes - however, I will be around to answer any questions or comments you all might have. As always, I love suggestions

Looks good so far.

As for lawsuit issues. Its been used in alot of diffrent things now so theres no way anyone can challenge its use in your fantasy game.

Now if youd made a superhero or superspy game called Champions, THEN someone would possibly be levelling a lawyer at you sooner or later.

I'd still change the name, at this point Champions is super generic and I think most games (especially small ones) really benefit from a unique and thematic name.

Re: (WIP) Champions - A blog
I still may change the name. While I like Champions and I feel that it does get the general idea of the game just by hearing it, I agree that its a bit generic.

I think one thing that may be a problem later on is that because the name is so used, if someone just sees it on paper and doesn't read a description or see an image, they may dismiss it as being related to another property or just being boring.

I probably will need to toy with the name a little bit. I think it'll be easier if/when I get around to making a background story for the game, then I can probably get a better idea of what it can go as.

I've gotten around to adding the next entry to my design blog for the game Champions! This time around, I have added information on thee Terrain, the board and also neutral monsters. Also highlight one of my ultimate design goals within the game a little bit in regards to the interactive board.

Hope you all enjoy and again, feel free to post a comment or email me a suggestion. Have a great day you guys!

Hey everybody, wanted to just drop in and say that I have posted another entry to the blog. This time I am talking about the basic strategic concepts of the game - the objectives of victory, team composition, a little bit about movement and what the heck minions are and such.

Moving on, I think I am more or less done with a rough outline of the rules here. I will move on to explaining the back story to the game, which I am working on at the moment, but also provide some looks as to how I am building the Champions and ideas of what abilities they have and how they will work and so forth.

I look forward to hearing for everybody!

The TV series is the one from the 1960's with Alexandra Bastedo as the female in the trio of superpowered secret agents?

Hey all, its been a little. A little busy at work these days - sigh. Still, I wrote something quick on the basic story behind the game and an idea of one of the Warrior-type characters, along with a little background about them. Let me know what ya'll think.
