I am specifically interested in playing many of the old AH war games by mail or whatever remote gaming process is currently in use.

I play at EPGS on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month and if you live in Eastern PA, Western NJ or Northern DE ... you should too!

Allow me to refer you to:

The Boardgamegeek Vassal Competitors Directory

I haven't used it myself but I keep meaning to.

Might as well complete the trilogy:

http://cyberboard.brainiac.com/

Then you can go to the forums on the games' pages or the Wargames subdomain forums and ask around for opponents.

Without intending to completely derail this thread, another site that deserves mention is http://www.gamerz.net/pbmserv/ which has mostly abstracts, including an old AH game with some sort of soldier thing going on in the background of the box cover, which my handle derives from. Hey and Go as well, AH sold Go sets. You get emails with text graphics which require a monospace font, but a lot of the games are available with their graphical web interface.

Re: Any Games played by email?
Another option for real time on line play of wargames is www.wargameroom.com

Most of the games available on the site are card driven wargames.
