If you are like me, you may have missed a few 'stealth updates' on the Gunship:First Strike KS homepage. I tend to just look at the top of the home page, updates and the comments page. I knew that Steve had said we would be getting some 'experimental weapons', but had filed it in a dark corner of my brian and mot really concerned myself about them. Today however I scrolled down the home page and found that we have already unlocked a few little bonuses.

So, at the risk of repeating things that everyone (apart from me) is already aware of, here are the ExWeapons we've unlocked so far:

Autoblaster Cannon

Weapons Generator

Ion Bombs

Defense Turret

Homing Missiles

and one more to come!

Regarding all the different weapons, will they all essentially be "equal," where the players can mix and match any they choose? Or will there ever be more powerful weapons that have some restrictions, disadvantages, or perhaps take up two slots?

First of all, I highly recommend random drawing of Upgrades. This has 2 game effects:

Keeps guys from building the same ship over and over - yes, some combos are very powerful

Keeps the game situations different each time, requiring new tactics to win

The more powerful weapons really need to be paired with the Weapons Generator for maximum effectiveness and that ties up two slots right there. The Ion Bombs and Homing Missile are powerful but they are one-shots, only 1 per game. You can choose the two of them but again, 2 slots gone.

Another way to handle it is to allow the winner of the last game to choose his Upgrades and you must draw randoms until you win. This creates a "prize" for winning and also lets you explore new combos and tactics - you'd be surprised how much you like certain combos that you may not have picked on your own.
