Sweet! A team FTL thread. Good idea.

Any time you're lost check here: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/768671/deputy-chiefs-office-...

That helps.

I like to keep a list of all the people who have overtext clues and what those clues lead to exactly. It's a good idea to collaborate. Some of the over text are just people being silly but look below and you'll see a few clues in Over text for sure!

Also, google is your best friend.

Thriends are your other best friends.

Happy hunting.

Here's the starting post:

Welcome all of you.

The situation is dire.
A dark and mysterious murder has been committed. While the media are calling this Mystery Noir, the GBI team all think it’s beige.

It is probably worth saying at the outset that we do have a list of suspects, a list of where the crime may have occurred, and a list of weapons. It is odd we don’t know the weapon but the investigating team lost the body. Long story and not relevant.

Getting the three lists will help narrow down the murderer, the location and the weapon used.
To eliminate each follow the clues via Overtext.

The clues will emerge- most days 3 or 4, some days just 1. They may come up at odd times and not in order. if you can’t fiond one, come back a few hours later, the overtext may have changed. The GI5 calendar has the expected discovery schedule. Some single clues will require a bit of digging to get all the info. You win if you get all four answers, the lists and chocolate cake and email them to the right place,- further instructions will appear on the trail. Andrew.

Thanks Boss.
The hunt covers the entire Geekdom (Board games, RPGs and Video games).
-The goal is to find a chain of BGG users. The overtext of a user links to another user.
-The solution to the mystery is hidden in the contributions and profiles of some of the users in the chain, and a clue can be hidden absolutely anywhere. It could be in their posts, in their profile descriptions, personal galleries, and even microbadges or given thumbs can tell us something important.
-Trust the management. The schedule is closely monitored, and if a clue should be there, it will be there.
-It pays to work in small groups. Find a few associates, and share what you’ve got. (You can always throw them under the bus later. :evilgrin

The first hunt solutions and trail looked like this: Overtext Treasure Hunt - The Republic's Gold Has Been Recovered! (solution)

If something doesn’t make sense go to the Office of Deputy andrewhodkinson, or see Midaga at the Grassy Knoll.

If you need to share clues, bounce ideas off each other, or ask for help I’d recommend

The GI5 cafe http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/685600/the-cafe
The bowling alley http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/689520/bowling-alley
The gym http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/685601/the-gym

The way to solve this case is to each follow the clues via Overtext. Many agents have gathered information which will help you if you can put it together. Andrewhodkinson and I can try and answer questions and good luck getting useful answers from us.

The first investigator to determine location, weapon and murderer, and identify the victim, will win. The instruction as to who you can trust to send the answers to will be provided at the end of the trail, by the key Government official who is monitoring our work.

I need to warn you that there are criminal elements trying to stop us. If you think you know the true identity of anyone taking pot shots at us then:
1 Ask for written authority to shoot at them from a senior member of GBI (ie. andrewhodkinson, Midaga, SamNZed, Aneirin) in the form of a Geek mail.

2 If you shoot at two people who are NOT assassins, you will be detained in a GBI holding cell for being too trigger-happy until you can get any two other GBI members or searchers registered on our geeklist http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/130048/overtext-treasu... to vouch for your good character (again, by sending Geek mails to the senior members of GBI).

3 Each agent who is the first to correctly identify an assassin - their assassin name and true identity - receives 20 GG. We believe there are somewhere between 2 and 6 in their gang - not all are on the trail but they are visible.

As the chief said - the three lists are essential to solving this one.
For security reasons we have divided the lists up between 3 key GBI operatives. You can all search the offices and quarters of the 3 members of the team who had the lists.
We haven’t lost them. Well, not really lost, just put somewhere, I was the last to see them. Really, I did place them carefully. I can’t share them with you right now, because, …. security. I’m sure there are clues and evidence of where the information is hidden.

It may or may not help to see the images we have of the case, unfortunately stored in the same file as GBI holiday snaps, anyway so far

Well I hope that was useful but that was all we had in our files.

that’s it from us. Back to you - Chief

Thanks team - I have no idea how far we might have got without your frenetic activity. Perhaps a lot further, we’ll never know.

There is an ample supply of chocolate cake in Conference Room B - feel free to have some.

To get us going : check out Agent 1’s overtext. Agent 1 was the last to see the body, although he wasn’t wearing his glasses so couldn’t confirm anything about the murder.

Away we go and - be careful out there.

I wouldn't do that if I were you. It seems that people who are poking there noses in where they don't belong are winding up with biting arrows stuck in their behind.
