I have a well-loved copy of Castle Panic at my house that an over-enthusiastic child damaged while getting it out.

The board is now split along one of the edges, and I'm trying to figure out how to repair it. Any advice would be appreciated... I know I can just tape it up, but I'm thinking maybe it would be best to just tape it on the back of the board? And what kind of tape would be best to use?

Thanks in advance!

I would be tempted to tape it on the outside only, though admittedly I'm not super-experienced at board mending. If the board folds inward at the split edge, be sure to allow enough slack on the outside to let it fold (i.e., tape it in the folded state). I recommend Spello-tape.

Tape is pretty much always a no no. Glue tends to be a much better option...

You can use cloth-tape on the back side of the board (carefully check how the board folds first! The tape must be applied to the inside of the folding).

I use the TESA Extra Power Perfect (2,75 x 38mm) brand to make new folding boards or repair one that is about to split apart and so far had excellent results.

Re: Board repair advice?
Thanks everyone - I really like the idea of the cloth tape - of the "TESA Extra Power Perfect" and the "Lineco brand Archival quality Linen Hinging Tape" (from the Surgery thread).

I'll try it out!
