So I took the UPenn "How long will I live" test that they'd talked about on ABC.

You can find it here:
http://gosset.wharton.upenn.edu/mortality/perl/CalcForm.html

Here's my results:
Life Expectancy: 84.60 years

Lower Quartile: 76.74 years (75% chance you will live longer than this)
Median Lifetime: 85.92 years (50% chance you will live longer than this)
Upper Quartile: 93.38 years (25% chance you will live longer than this)

84.6, not bad! Of course the test didn't ask so I didn't say that my folks are in their 90's, still going strong and they've siblings that've broken 100. So I'm hoping with those genes I may be here a little longer than 84 years.

After all we've gotta confirm how many board games we've got time for.

Life Expectancy: 86.44 years

Median Lifetime: 87.94 years (50% chance you will live longer than this)
Upper Quartile: 95.66 years (25% chance you will live longer than this)

I'm going to outlive Octavian, and I get to have 2 or 3 drinks per day! Boozy longevity FTW! (Actually I have 1 or 2, but closer to 2 on average, and "1" and "2 or 3" were the choices.)

Edit: I'm old enough to have done some thinking about when I'll die, and decided that my goal is to match my maternal grandfather. He was healthy enough to jog a bit until his early 80's, finally started to really fall apart physically and mentally in his mid 90's, and died at 101. So if I meet that I'll be happy. My stretch goal is to be in good health until 100 and die or disappear on my eleventy-first birthday. But I realize that this would be an amazing feat and is unlikely.

Edit #2: The best way it thinks I can live longer is by sleeping more. If I sleep an extra hour a day, I'll live 0.4 years longer. But by my thinking, over the next 45 years, an hour a day of extra wakefulness means almost two years more living, so sleeping 6 hours a night pays off overall. I win again!

Re: A short test that will absolutely positively accurately predict you life expectancy (generally speaking).
Life Expectancy: 41.75 years
Lower Quartile: 39.93 years (75% chance you will live longer than this)
Median Lifetime: 41.20 years (50% chance you will live longer than this)
Upper Quartile: 43.20 years (25% chance you will live longer than this)

Whoops, looks like I've only got two years to go. I wonder what I entered that it so clearly took exception to?

Edit : Yep, borked up the height. Here we go again.

Life Expectancy: 80.93 years
Lower Quartile: 73.25 years (75% chance you will live longer than this)
Median Lifetime: 82.86 years (50% chance you will live longer than this)
Upper Quartile: 90.31 years (25% chance you will live longer than this)

Mine is to match my dad, whose funeral was the same day as my college graduation. The burrito boy is almost 12; that means another 11 years of this shit, or 10 if he can bust out a 4-year degree in 4 years.

Today as I was leaving to buy materials for the bathroom floor, the boy shouted that he hoped I never came back, because I had the gall to tell him he had to do his homework before playing with his friends. Fuck that hurt. I couldn't take him up on that, because the poor little bastard would think it was his fault.

That was my thinking. Dropping my sleep to 2 hours a night will reduce my remaining time by only 10%? Screw you, all you people who say sleep deprivation is bad for you!

Remember folks, this all assumes that nobody, even Kuhrusty, murders you.

And do you like those odds?

Edit -- Assuming no MurderDeathKill (aren't we living that movie yet?), I'm looking at an expectant total of 83.1 years. Seems high to me.

I got a life expectancy of about 86 years, and when I changed my current age to 90 y, it went up to 98 y. So it does seem to take current age into account; don't know why some people are finding out they've died already!

87.76 years, on the assumption that where I live is similar to West Virginia (I was looking for somewhere semi-rural with a low rate of gun crime and gun-related accidents as I am assuming that this is one of the geographical factors taken into account).

One odd thing though: the Health Risk analysis seems to be worded so as to suggest that I should drink more and so shorten my life expectancy by 0.1 of a year

Well, statistically, a few murders here or there don't significantly affect your life expectancy. What these numbers assume is that I don't finish debugging The Device.

Since this web page is all based on statistics, it won't say you've died already. It only tells you that you've probably died already.
