When I was chosen for Geek of the Week, my first thought was "Who ME?" My second was, "Who will I choose next?" I tried to be a good little user and pick someone I knew but didn't really KNOW. Bill came to mind and I decided to have a look at his profile. I knew I was done then. Over 800 games owned? More flag widgets and microbadges than are legal in the state of Rhode Island? AND his great personal bio?

Oh yeah, we are definitely in for one HOOPY week.

Hidey Ho Humans!

It's great to finally have the geek back up and running and I'd like to take a moment to thank all those who have been hard at work, to get it back up and running again. It's been a tough 3 days for us all, but I'm sure it's been even tougher for Aldie & Derk and everyone else working so hard, to bring the site back up again. We really appreciate all that you do.

I think this year's April Fool's prank was me being picked as GotW, as there's surely so many more wonderful and more deserving people out there than I. Though I'm honored to have been chosen and will do my best to pass on the tradition. In fact I have something special in mind, for just that occasion.

So you may want to know a little about me, though I'm not really sure what to write, as I'm just an ordinary alien. My profile pretty much tells my story. I'm 44 years old in human years and single. I came across BGG one day, when searching the net looking for a game, that I remembered playing with my grandfather, when I was little. I did all kinds of searches, trying to figure out what the game was called, when I finally came across this site and found the game to be American Carrom. We used to play this all the time, when I would visit and always remembered it and always wanted to try the Crokinole game, that was on the other side of the game board. So, many thanks to my grandpa, for introducing me to a great game, that eventually led me here, to the greatest site on the internet. I'm now the proud owner of both a professional Carrom and Crokinole board, that I enjoy playing to this day.

I have met many good friends and currently get together with those friends, at my FLGS All Things Fun in Berlin New Jersey. If you're ever in the area feel free to drop in for some gaming. You can check out their list of events on their website at www.allthingsfun.net. They're great people and I just couldn't resist adding a little plug for them.

Stay hoopy my friends,
Bill

Poll: Two Truths and a Lie
I once went out with a girl for over a year, before finding out that she was in the porn industry.
When I was little I went to the home of Bobby Clarke (Ex-hockey player for the Philadelphia Flyers) and asked the man mowing the lawn if Bobby Clarke was home and explained, that I would like to get his signature. He told me that he was Bobby Clarke and I was like, "OH you look different in person". He then invited me inside and gave me a photo and signed it.
I seem to attract lightning and have almost been struck 6 or more times.

1 - Do you believe in humans? Has it occurred to you that we could ALL be from different planets masquerading as a creature that has never really existed?

2 - Your comments for games are terribly brief. Have you considered sharing a little bit more with us?

3 - You appear to be a fan of expansions. Is this a subtle hint that our world may soon be part of a large galactic empire whether we like it or not?

There is a road, no simple highway, between the dawn and the dark of night, and if you go no one may follow, that path is for your steps alone. Ripple in still water, when there is no pebble tossed, nor wind to blow.

To seek the sacred river Alph, to walk the caves of ice, to break my fast on honey dew and drink the milk of paradise... I had heard the whispered tales of immortality, the deepest mystery, from an ancient book I took a clue.

Congratulations Bill!

My questions for you are as follows;

What is your current favorite game?

Cow mutilation or anal probing?

What would you consider your all time favorite game if you had to choose?

Black holes or Pulsars?

Are aliens really here to steal our women?

Hope you have a great week!

First of all let me say many hoopy thanks to you, for choosing me as this week's GotW. It'll surely be a fun time and am hoping to spread the word hoopy.

1 - Yes, I believe in humans, but I do often wonder about them being all from different universes, as I've seen some crazy things here in New Jersey.

2 - I try to keep my comments on games brief on purpose, as it's just a comment and not a review and with so many games, I hardly have enough time to play them all, let alone write a review for each one. I do try my best to give a brief and decent idea about the game and who I think would like it though.

3 - Not at all. The planet Earth has expanded enough, though we may or may not have had something to do with that in the past.

Many hoopy thanks my friend.

My current favorite game. Hmmm...that would have to be trying to play them all.

Cow mutilation for sure. It makes for great BBQ and anal probing surely does NOT! laugh

WOW, I could never answer that question, as I've so many different games, that I love to play and so many different moods of what to play. I was a spoiled brat, as a single child, so I never had to chose just one. Thanks mom and dad.

Surely black holes. They make for a great safe to store an endless amount of games in.

I wouldn't consider it stealing if they're willing, though mind control is a nice feature to have.

Thanks so much my friend.

1 - Already answered that in my introduction. I was looking for a game, that I used to play with my grandfather, when I was little.

2 - Definitely someone who knows how to laugh and have fun and isn't worried about having to win all the time.

3 - Again, I don't really have a favorite, but I do really enjoy playing Crows, Rosenkönig and Through the Desert.

4 - This is an easy one. Surely Star Wars: The Queen's Gambit, as it looks great and is just so much fun to play.

5 - I'm a simple gamer, that just enjoys laughing and having fun and being with friends. I enjoy a wide variety of games and each for the challenge and fun they provide, but the game itself is usually just a medium for having a good time with friends.

6 - I have many. It's what keeps me going, but my main one would be to some day visit Egypt and the ancient sites. Especially the pyramids. I love Egyptology.

I don't want happiness by halves, nor is half of sorrow what I want. Yet there's a pillow I would share, where gently pressed against a cheek like a helpless star, a falling star, a ring glimmers on the finger of a hand.

There's the night owl! Have a hoopy week my friend and see if you can show Aldie and the gang some alien tech to keep the BGG servers online.

1. Fav way to relax?

2. Fav recipe for the famous grill?

3. One grail game?

4. One person in the world you'd like to meet?

5. New Jersey or New York?

I'll be watching you this week, stay hoopy and congrats again!

Many thanks kind sir.

Ahhhh the good ole days of the Commodore 64. I'll always remember Racing Destruction Set. I played the hell out of that game and spent many hours making tons of tracks. I wish they would remake it today. That would be so cool.

My favorite alien depiction would be this ancient Mayan stone carving:

Who's the alien now?

Hoopy congrats Bill! This is awesome! You are definitely a BGG institution in my book, and I'm glad you're being spotlighted for the week so everyone can enjoy your special brand of awesome.

A couple questions for you:

d10-1 Was it a difficult transition moving here to earth from Billistan?

d10-2 What is the most hilarious board game anecdote you can share with us?

Hey there Longears. A hoopy week indeed. Who would've thought huh? I've left the tech info hidden here on the geek. They just have to figure out how to find it for themselves. It's my April Fool's hidden Easter egg.

1 - Being out in my boat in the middle of a lake fishing.

2 - A quick and easy one is marinating my hamburgers in a ziplock bag of:

BBQ sauce
Duck sauce
Peter Luger's steak sauce
Soy sauce
Worstershire sauce
Lawry's Hawaiian marinade
Mesquite liquid smoke
Salt
Pepper
Garlic
Onion powder
Dash of hot pepper flakes
Jack Daniels whisky

I let them marinade for at least a few hours if not over night and them slow cook them on the grill with soaked mesquite, hickory or apple wood chips and cover them with a lid to keep all that smoke flavor in. Damn it now I'm hungry. See what you did. Gonna have to go light the grill soon.

3 - Owned would be Capes & Cowls: The Superhero Board Game. I have many unowned ones, but let's go with TurfMaster Course Collection 2. I'd love to find this and complete my set some day.

4 - My soulmate. She's gotta be out there somewhere.

5 - Heh, neither are that great, but I guess I'll stick with New Jersey for now, at least until I hit the lottery or crash land in another state. Let's hope I hit the lottery. Those crash landings hurt.
