As others have lamented, there's almost no information out there, and the game supposedly comes out this month (or next).

Zvezda! If you're reading this, please post the number and types of units that will be included in the base game! Knowing this will encourage me (and likely many other geeks like me) to get two copies, and countless expansions at the time of my initial purchase, just to assure I can field ridiculously large armies. Or at the very least, I can fantasize about what I'm going to play now, while I wait for my preorder to be filled.

Thanks in advance...

Hi,

I´ve found an interessting photo here:

http://www.plastik-modellbau.org/blog/spielwarenmesse-2012-d...

I suppose, that Samurai Battles was featured at the "Spielenwarenmesse Nürnberg 2012". It seems, that Zvezda used two boards and tiles from Barbarossa 1941 for the presentation.

I've been looking for this information as well.

Thanks for posting the link to the photo.

Looking at the various units in the picture... anyone care to guess what the larger barrel looking units are?

I'm thinking they are drums for the command unit.

Drums sounds like a good guess to me.

Drums? Those are medieval Japanese water bowls.. troops in the field had to have something to drink.

Of all the photos I have seen I am not sure what the loop is for on the back of the figure bases. I have not seen it used as of yet.

I originally thought it would be used to help keep the figure on the base but one photo I've seen clearly shows this is not the case.

I am guessing the loop will be used to denote a leader or personality... or possibly for marking units that detach from a base/group (we have yet to see this mechanic for regular units in C&C, other than generals being able to join or detach fighting units)

Hmmmm

My guess is there might be a tool you can use for levering the figs off the movement trays that fits into the loop on the back of the fig. Or maybe a casualty peg fits into it.

It looks like the troops armed with bows may need to keep track of ammo, based on the little plastic flets that appear to be stuck into some trays.

I have found that with most C&C games I order two sets in preparation (hope) for an Overlord/Epic style of play.

It also allows me to setup two concurrent maps that will accomodate four people to play at one time or to go from one scenario to the next quicker.

I also have a collection of printed maps I made for campaigns and favorite scenarios.

Besides... can one ever have enough samurai?

Also, it may be fairly efficient to order two sets rather than order one set plus a bunch of extra troop boxes. Then you can get the extra mapboard and accessories for pretty cheap

One more reason it would be good to have the rulebook and list of what all comes in the box.

It's not quite the same thing since, just like with Operation Barbarossa, there will be troop boxes for units that are not found in the base game. Any special cards or information for their use should be with the box.
