Hi
If I have 2 different sphere heroes can i remove a resource of both in order ro pay a 2 cost card which matches one of the heroes spheres? or do I have to pay the 2 resources from the hero who sphere's matches that of the card to be played.

I have been playing it were only 1 resource needs to match that of the intended played card'd. This is how call of cthulhu LCG is played.A friend who has just got the game thinks it is played the other way

LOTR card game is hard enough the way I have been playing it without having to meet a cards cost from resources all of one sphere.

This is the correct way to play. Though resources from any hero can be used to pay for neutral cards.

Yeah, it definitely makes you think twice about which cards to add to your deck when you play multiple spheres.

Just make sure to include resource generating cards like Steward of Gondor or the Horn of Gondor. Gloin and Théodred can also help with resource generation.

There are other ways as well, but those are the most obvious options.

The OP is right though, this makes the game exceptionally hard. Basically, the best decks have a mix of speheres to accomodate different needs (questing, healing, damage, etc). But there are only a couple of cards which accelerate resource generation. I have 1 core set, and I feel I can only make a about 2 good decks at a time, because 1 of those will have 2 stewards of gondor, and the other one will be a monosphere deck or a deck with cheap cards.

I like this clarity, and it makes for some interesting deck building, but I feel that at this stage of the game there simply haven't been enough resource acceleration cards out yet to make more than 1 good deck.

Off course, the game has only just begun, and I like the inventivity of most cards so far, so we'll probably get some more ways to accelerate resources or facilitate multisphere decks the coming months.

yeah mana generation does seem to be the bottle neck, when playing. I think you have to have steward of gondor in any deck or you have no chance of winning. Also Horn of gondor is almost a necessity too.

I have just started to experiment building decks with 2 players in mind. Sharing the threat combat defense and control between 2 decks makes it a little easier but not much. It might be easier with 4 players but I cant find enough people who will invest in the game. Only tonight one friend said it was an expensive game even at a tenner a month for the expansions when you consider you get so few cards to put into a deck since most of the expansion are encounter deck cards. I have 2 core sets and all the expansion and I cant put together 2 decks due to a shortage of steward of gondor cards and some other staples needed to build a playeable deck!

Resources are key, yes, but choosing the right cards to play each turn is more important. I'd say 80%-90% of our wins have been achieved without any bonus resource generators so don't get too stuck on SoG being the essential ingredient.

Re: paying resource costs using 2 different spheres
Steward is overrated. Sure it helps a lot, but is not reliable (you don't always draw it) and works only on 1 hero. It also adds dead cards to the deck. Theodred is WAY more reliable.
