Subject: Conversion Kit is "2-6" Players? rss

So I just got my conversion kit yesterday and noticed on the back that it states "2-6" players whereas the main game states "2-5". I'm assuming this is just a typo, but wanted to check with you all to make sure I haven't totally missed the boat on something. This is only a five player max game, correct?

Also, I could have sworn in an old thread I read somewhere someone had found sleeves for the hero cards. Am I dreaming, or is this true? Does anyone remember where to get these?

Thanks!

How many sleeves would you need, and what size? (I don't have my copy yet)

Thanks!

Conversion kit has 48 cards and the base game has 8. He sells them in 50 pack so you would need 2 packs.

When he puts them up it will say Descent Hero cards in the description no idea what size they are.

It's a typo, the monster group limits are for 2, 3 or 4 heroes. So 5 players, while not impossible to do I suppose, is not part of the game rules.

Also, the sleeves for the hero sheets are amazing, I recently got some from that eBay seller and I highly recommend them, they fit great and make the sheets much more sturdy.

edit: They come in packs of 40, not 50 as stated above. But regardless, you'll need two packs for the the base game plus conversion kit and will have plenty left over for future expansions!

Yup! I got them as well - great quality!

It'll be nice to have my ENTIRE second edition sleeved the next time I play! Might consider letting people keep their drinks on the table again... MAYBE...

I've ordered several sets of hero-sized sleeves from that seller, over the years. They're great. My only advice would be to order a ton, at one time. Not only does this save on shipping, but they tend to vary in size a tiny bit from time-to-time. Not really enough to be an issue, unless you occasionally do a "blind draw" for characters in Descent or Talisman. Folks can get wise to the fact that all of your characters from a certain expansion have slightly larger or smaller sleeves, and pick from those. I guess the new double-sided hero sheets in 2e make a blind draw pretty difficult anyway, but we almost always draw characters for Talisman at random.

As far as the 2-6 players thing goes, that was one disappointing typo. We've often got more players for the game than is playable. Would've been nice to have some out-of-the-box variant for 6 players.

Are the Hero Sheets the same size in the first and second edition? Want to make sure before I order sleeves.

Thanks

If you're thinking about the pthalates it's very overblown in the media compared to the actual science behind it. Yes, you don't want to sit there sucking on it for years, but using some plastics with pthalates in everyday life won't hurt you.

I just got some myself a while back. I don't quite like the "feel" of them, they have some kind of funky surface compared to card sleeves and are not quite as soft. They do seem solid and fit very well though, I'd definitely buy em again since there isn't really any alternative.

5 players is 4 heroes and 1 overlord.
