So it turns out my final game of the weekend was Galaxy Trucker, which was suitably chaotic and fittingly, I did terribly at it, although I very nearly came second. Actually, I'm not even sure that's true to be honest.

Sadly I had no time to write a fnal farewell blog as the last remnants of London on Board eeked out their concluding games in the twilight. Time had run away and the fun was over: time to pack up and rue the games left unplayed. Will I ever get Darjeeling or IV-V-I to the table? I was starting to wonder if I should have booked the later train.

Actually I did manage to get a few more in on the train back, with quick hands of Coloretto, Gloria Picktoria and 6 nimmt! (Alec did rather more badly this tine) as the full effect of he weekend's exersions set in. For some reason a proposition to find a pub and continue playing wasn't met with unanimous approval, although I was up for it.

And so ends my inaugural London on Board weekend away. It's been a bit of a fits and starts live blog (I'm stretching the term somewhat) but I hope it's given a little flavour of the fun we had and the games we played. I had an absolute blast and managed 30 games including 7 new to me. Look out for the full geeklist of what we played from Martin (no doubt).

Looking back, it feels like a real privilege to have spent the past three days solid gaming with such a great bunch of people. It's been nice to get to know a few fellow LoBsters better, as well as have the chance to play or try games I don't usually. Perhaps next time I'll take a smaller case, given the sheer number of games available (I'm pretty sure Karl has a photo of the game mountain we had), or then again perhaps not. You never know what mood people will be in for what game, though the flip side to this was that the most analysis paralysis I saw all weekend was groups of people standing around, shaking their heads at the enormity of the task of deciding what to play next.

I may not have won many (I think I even did worse than Ronan in that respect), but already I'm looking forward to the next one. Does it have to wait till Autumn?

For now, I'm back in London, contemplating heading out to London on Board tomorrow night, or whether I'm a little gamed out (for this week at least). I can't wait for Essen.

Photos to follow.

Finally got my play of Khronos, and came pathetically last. Gabe managed 30-odd in the last round for a final score of 57, while after Bonnie had given up all hope she pipped me into last place by one point.

I've also managed games of Metropolys and Inka this morning, two nice screwage games which is just what you need for a Sunday morning.

Ronan and Jobaeda meanwhile are recovering from the night before, of which the less said about the better, especially THAT bar bill. PitchCar Mini seems about the right level for a fair section of the group now. As for me, I'm continuing the city-building-screw-you theme and playing Manhattan.

Despite turning in at 4am I managed to haul myself out of bed in time for breakfast and all that remains is to check out and enjoy the beautiful Spring sunshine by spending the day inside playing board games.

I'm going to set up Khronos and see who joins. Barry's already been at Dominion, no doubt biding his time before another bout of Battlestar Galactica.

It just seems wrong to end a LoB night without it.

Alec dealt in again. I have a terrible hand. Ronan and Jobaeda are locked in the naughty room. Tomorrow is going to be tough.

Location: Bar of the York House hotel, Eastbourne
Time: 01:30
Present: A ragbag motley crew of ne'er do wells and misfits from London town.

Some grisly goings on have been reported in this once genteel town. The suspects are gathered and questioning begins. Do any of this crowd have something to hide? Lloyd is looking particularly suspicious. What follows is an account of the conference. As accurate as possible under the dangerous conditions. I may get cut off. I hope this reaches you safely.

Blog went slightly less live than planned today. Combination of a stressful week (I had job interviews), a very late night and sudden excess of game rules learning meant I totally crashed once I stopped for fish and chips on the beach.

After a power nap, a pretty awful dinner at the hotel and a Deucher's, I'm back in the game. And by game, I mean The BoardGameGeek Game, which actually isn't as bad as people keep telling me it is, although I think I've found the recipient of the Curtis award in Keith.

Prior to that I had a quick game of The Ark of the Covenant, which I think is one of the better Carc variants, and I'm now gearing up for the night with a replay of Tigris & Euphrates, mainly so Scott and Dan can try and screw up Martin's chances of winning the Kniziathon.

The substandard food drove quite a few LoBsters out for dinner which left the games room weirdly empty for some time, but things seem to have picked up with people starting long games, including the obligatory BSG which, rather amusingly, is being played in the bar as a group of orange-hued native Eastbourners drunkenly leave a function downstairs. Heaven knows what they'll make of it.

Well, if you wanted to do that, you certainly wouldn't play Tammany Hall, a brilliant, cut-throat, frustrating game that a few of the LoB guys keep raving about. It contains the two elements I'm most useless at, and consequently like the least in games, area-control and blind bidding. Turns out it's much more about the meta-game (in our case, annoying Martin), which means and hour and a half or so of constant swearing, dropped jaws and bulging blood vessels. Great fun.

I have a sneaky feeling this Kniziathon might be beyond my grasp already, after two solid last places in Ra and Tigris & Euphrates.

To be fair (to myself), I didn't do too badly in T&E - final scores were 10-9-8-8 - but a loss is a loss, after all.

Still, brilliant game, although my offer of a follow up of Khronos was rejected in favour of a quicker play of Kreta.

In other news, games seem to have been going on for quite some time; it seems people are taking the opportunity of a full day to get some longer games started. Of course Battlestar Galactica is in full swing, witting and unwitting recruits gathered bleary-eyed from the breakfast table. I'm pretty sure Barry is a cylon, given his performance in Bunny Bunny Moose Moose last night.

Who thought it was a good idea to get up at 8 on a Saturday after going to be at 3? Oh wait, me.

Power dosing coffee in preparation for a full on day of solid gaming. I better start nice and gentle. How about a leisurely game of Tigris & Euphrates.

Hmmm. It's 2am. Shall we go to bed so we can be fresh for the next two full days' gaming? Naaaaah, let's play 6 nimmt! with a random ghost hand for Alec (who didn't lose, round end score was 20 with Rocky and Lorenzo scoring more). What's that you say? Fast paced chaotic card game at quarter to three? Well I suppose I could stay up a while longer...

I wonder what game burn out feels like. I wonder if I'm soon to experience it. Whatever, it's been a pretty good day - I've played 14 games, four of which were new to me. The only blight on this record is the fact I only won two of them, which puts me level pegging with Ronan, a statistical anomaly I'm sure will sort itself out by the end of the weekend.
