This is a custom box I made for one of my classes. I didn't make it with anything specific in mind, but I soon discovered it was great for holding dice, minis, and all kinds of other boardgame related stuff.
It's made out of high quality bookbinder's board and book cloth. It has 2 removable trays and a super-secret tray in the bottom.
Let me know if you'd like one. I can make them to pretty much any specifications.

1. First I mixed some Dark Angels Green with a tiny bit of Chaos Black and painted the bottoms of his wings on the front and back, his back and tail, and his stomach. I used water to blend the darker green into the lighter green already on his wings.
2. I drybrushed some Scorpion Green onto the tops of his wings on the front and back. I also drybrushed his stomach, trying to only hit the highpoints.
3. I painted a watered down layer of Bleached Bone onto his horns, claws, teeth, and some spines on the back of his head.
4. I then painted the inside of his mouth and his eyes with Blood Red.
5. The last step was to drybrush a very thin layer of Gunmetal metallic paint onto his back and tail. I thought this would give it a subtle slimy look.
My next step will be to apply a light wash to the mini. After that I'll seal it with a very reliable product which I'll talk about next time. So stay tuned!

Note: All the paints I use are Citadel brand paints.
First I covered the dragon in Dark Angels Green. I plan on using a lot of layers on this piece, so I wasn't too worried about getting a perfectly even coat. I just wanted to make sure there was no white left showing through.
Note: I'm COMPLETELY ignoring how much paint I get on the base. I plan on covering it pretty heavily with modeling grass, rocks, and sand, so it shouldn't really matter.
Next I painted his horns and claws Iyanden Darksun. I plan on doing a wash with Bleached Bone over these. The yellow will show through and give them a nice, aged look.
Lastly, I painted the inside of his mouth with Mechrite Red.

I have a few days left before my semester starts, so I thought I would try to start and finish one of the dragons from Descent before I leave on Sunday. I'll try to remember to take pictures of each stage of the process and maybe explain what I did for anyone interested.
Here is the dragon with a basecoat of Citadel white. I almost always basecoat in white, especially if I'm going to do a very detailed mini. I find that it's easier for me to make out the tiny details if the mini is based in white. I only basecoat in black If I want the mini to have a dark undertone under a drybrush coat. The Mammoth MK-II's I posted on here were done in this way.

I owned Wizard's Quest years ago but lost it under tragic circumstances. I've been looking for it ever since. I finally found it the other day at the Great Escape in Nashville, for a great price! It was complete except for a few chits and the instructions.
My friends and I used to have a great time playing this. So since I'm back in my hometown for a few days, I decided to hold a Wizard's Quest Tournament. The Wizard's Best 2011: First Annual Premier Wizard's Quest Invitational Tournament, to be more specific. I've sculpted and painted 3 trophies and 3 medallions which I will post pictures of after the tournament. I've also decided to soup-up my Wizard's Quest playing pieces. I bought a few bags of wooden pegs and cubes from the local hobby store. I spent all last night hand-painting them to match the original bits.
These are not meant to replace the cardboard chits, merely augment them. The pegs are 2 sided. The three flags on one side represents 3 men. On the reverse side is a single large flag, which represents 5. Each color's large flag has a different design.
Each color gets 5 cubes with a single "X" on top, which represents 10 men, and 1 cube with double "X"s which represents 20. The bottom of the cubes are blank and each of the remaining 4 sides has different images of battle flags.
There will be, at most, 6 participants so a single game will decide the tournament. The winner will be the first person to capture all three of his/her treasures. I have also devised a system of points to determine 2nd - 6th place.
On Sunday I will post pictures of the trophies and their winners and also talk about how the tournament went and the point system.

So I'm a lowly graduate student, and I'm always looking to make a little extra money doing something I love. One of the things I love happens to be painting miniatures.
I've painted a wide variety of minis, from space marines to frost giants, from giant spiders to giant robots.
I can do a single mini or an entire army. My rates are reasonable, the quality of my painting is high, and I have a pretty quick turnaround.
So if you have any minis you want painted, please message me and let me know!
