I ran across this article about videogames in the Olympics and wondered if they would be a summer or winter event and proposed an alternative option.

Here is my brief video on this:

I give my initial thoughts on No Man's Sky, from my initial impressions to the comments on the game popping up:

The game isn't for a lot of people, apparently. But I do like it.

I relocated for a state job that didn't work out. I figured, with my spare time, I would try to foster games in the eastern part of NY where I am, which is branded with the name "Tech Valley". As part of this, I started a Meetup for the area. You can see it here:
http://www.meetup.com/Tech-Valley-Games-Community/

The current name is "Game Enthusiasts of Tech Valley" (The name may be changed, depending on input). Feel free to join that Meetup if you are in the area. I am going to try to get different people into games of all type to connect there, and see what can be done. I hope that, long term, it can help foster some economic development. I did say "all games" here, because I am looking at tabletop games, and also the electronic/videogame variety. Even stuff like Pokemon Go would be of value. I also want it to be a no cost way for people to post their events, and get turnout. I am not a fan of charging.

Contact me if you have any questions.

I finally have some thoughts on the game 504, and why I stopped playing (for now)

I was going to wait until I played each module in each slot, but I had to stop. I post about the experience here:

https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1598026/theory-vs-reality-t...

I try to make sense of what I saw with the game 504. Feel free to comment there. Pretty much I deal with the difference between reality and theory in the post.

Dice Beads, and an idea for a game...

So, the story is that I manage to get two games with wood cubes, on small side, and decided to put them in the same container, in my car. Well, I ended up having one of the cubes flipped out and got lost under the seat. I then needed to get replacement part. I couldn't find cubes. So, I decided to look for square beads that would fit. In my search for the replacement beads, I found square beads in the forum of dice:

I am now also having the idea for a game where dice are used as good for trading.

I think these beads are really cool actually, I am seeing a number of uses for them.

I was given a tormenting challenge by someone (I would name them, if they want to be known) to do a one player version of the game Werewolf. It was thrown out there and my mind latched onto it. Well, I think i know how to do it. And now, I will press on with it. Will see how it goes.

I am working on a trick-taking game with positional play on a board.

Imagine trying to combine trick-taking normally seen with cards, with positional play as in a pure abstract strategy game. High Hand is one game that inspired this some, but not with trick-taking. I am working on this, and need to balance some things.

I started a thread on it in the abstract games section, if you want to comment there on it. The thread is here:

https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1568591/i-am-working-trick-...

I had been wanting to combine the two concepts for awhile now. I figured I would try something out and post about it once I got some playtesting in, which I did. I still have more to work on.

The entry for the game I had in mind is here on BGG:
