Getting these games played is getting harder. Why?
The Saturday group is in flux and has been (and looks to be for a while) small. Most Saturdays you could count on Michael, Nico, and I with some others. We recently lost Kyle to Columbia, MO, and others to life and other commitments and/or changes in interests. Well Nico is now going to be very irregular because he and his wife bought a new house and he is going to be spending a lot of time closing and getting ready to move.
Then there are the weeks when a bunch of people show up out of the blue. We go from having two or three people to having eight! Not that this is a problem, it just means I probably selected the wrong game to briong along.
So the game this week is?
Taluva is a game she and I used to play two-player all the time, and we also played quite a bit with others.
The one rule we play is that we only use 12 tiles per player. Reducing the number of tiles when there are fewer than four players prevents all the games from ending in a premature victory.
Witch's Brew was not played. Most of the day it was just Michael and I, and this is not a two-player game. I would prefer to play it with four or five, but it does work with three.
John did come by to play a few games, but he is only ever free for just a couple of hours. He wanted to try D-Day Dice, and we plyaed through two maps. Before he ran out, we talked him into a short game of Würfel Bohnanza, which he hadn't played before.
Those are two of my best purchases this year and I imagine they will both be played quite a bit the rest of year. Michael and I also played Castles of Burgundy, which is another great acquisition from this year.
