Last Friday there were just 4 of us. We started with Pandemic, which Richard wanted to try having not done so before. The first game was the quickest loss I’ve ever seen: two starting cities drawn with 3 cubes in the yellow Africa area, along with two starting cities adjacent to them with 2 cubes, then the first epidemic card being drawn on the first player’s turn as the city between the two with 3 cubes - and then I drew two of the cities with 3 cubes in! We played again, needless to say, as Richard didn’t even get a turn in the first game, and we did manage to win that one, just!

Next came Shipyard, and Sami’s fast boats managed to win the game. I went for the lifeboats bonus, having not played it before, only to find Richard going for one of each safety feature, so we were fighting over them a little! Then we pulled out San Marco, which we haven’t played for a couple of years. I never seemed to get to distribute unless I was start player, but early on Sami kept drawing 3 scoring cards when paired with me, so I got off to an early lead (you’d think he would too, but Marion’s first two banishment actions pretty much took him out of the game - removing almost every cube he owned from the board!) and then just accelerated it, winning by absolutely miles in the end.

By now it was too late for another heavy game, so Richard suggested Saturn, which he played once a few months ago and liked. The first game I was the only one being careful, so won easily, but Richard seemed to get the knack in the second game and we tied. We finished with Jungle Speed.
