So, the new HeroClix set, Giant-Size X-Men releases this week. I've preordered some from my local and my desire to play Clix has swollen immensely over the past few days.
See, it's a terrible thing to admit, but I buy heaps of clix and almost never play. I can't help it, Supers are a passion for me. Of course, over the years, Clix have come in useful for a few other things...
First, not too long after they were released, I started running a Blood Bowl team with them - and subsequently a Mordheim warband. While the bases are a little too big, the miniatures themselves are just right generally and look great.
Clix have also played a role in both GURPS Supers and Spycraft games I've been involved with and are quite evocative if you use them well - one of my great friends has made custom minis for some of her friends out of spare or unwanted clix.
I digress though. The point is that I'm going to get some clix in soon and have some fun with it. My last game of note was recorded in this session report and was an absolute hoot to play and write. I love the idea of seeing how characters from one universe deal with threats from another - I'm gearing up to send the Marvel Multiverse against the Anti-Monitor currently.
In other news, I'm reading Space: 1889 currently in preparation for a game I've agreed to run in the near future. It'll only be a session or two long, but is based on the Jeeves and Wooster stories of P.G.Wodehouse and should prove to be a lot of fun.
This reading doubles as preparation for the Iron Reviewer: Last Geek Standing competition. While my next two reviews are written and ready to go, it never hurts to get ahead a little - especially with all the stressful work-related junk going on at the moment.
My house is currently full of sick people and my teacher constitution seems to be keeping me in good stead, touch wood. All Avery wants to do is sit on the lounge, watch Scooby-Doo and play the 'Ghostbusters Flap Game' (Flap = Wii in Averyspeak). The marking, planning and curriculum writing may take a toll soon, however, so if you see me posting here a whole lot (more than usual?), you know why.
Be cool!
