Dominant Species Update In The Works
GMT Games released their monthly newsletter today and in it was a mention of what's going on with the Dominant Species app. Here it is in their own words:GMT Games wrote:Just a quick note here to say that we have completed a major engine upgrade that will enable us to add a bunch of new functionality (the much-requested UNDO among these features). We're also at work on updating the AI. I THINK - although it's always really hard for me to judge timing on electronic projects - that we'll have something for our testers to dig into within a few weeks, which will hopefully get us a well-tested major upgrade in early January. Thanks for all your support of this project, and for your constructive criticism and helpful suggestions. That's all helping us to make this app even better!
Baldur's Gate Coming On Wednesday...or Not
This is the big week that all of us (me, at least) have been waiting for...to finally get Baldur's Gate on my iPad! Or not. November 28 will, for sure, be the release date for the PC and Mac versions and the iPad was supposed to launch at the same time, but it is unclear if that is the case. I've been looking for indications that the game has been submitted to Apple, and cannot. So, maybe they submitted it awhile ago and are planning on releasing it Wednesday along with the other versions, but Toucharcade recently mentioned that they don't believe that to be the case. Pockettactics, on the other hand, specifically says that the PC, Mac and iPad versions are to be launched simultaneously. We'll have to wait an see on this one, I guess.
On the bright side, Overhaul Games has put out a trailer showing some gameplay. Oh, those sound effects and voices! Can't wait!
New Digital CCG Krono Announced
Developer Large Animal Games started a Kickstarter last week for a new CCG/deckbuilder called Krono. In Krono players act as Traversers, travelling between rifts in time and bringing forth the greatest warriors from the past, present and future such as vikings, samurai, knights, etc. They are hoping to release the game in 2013 for iOS, Android and the web. You can check out their Kickstarter here.
Poker Knight Coming Soon
Brad stumbled on a YouTube video for an upcoming RPG and poker mash-up from developer Instant Games called Poker Knight. Not much to see here in this teaser trailer, but it sounds intriguing (even though I think Sword & Poker might have beat it as the "first RPPG ever").
