Sunday was another busy day for us. The children were singing in two services at our church. Later in the afternoon they had the final performance of the play they were in, followed by the cast party. We had about an hour available in the early afternoon so I picked Saint Petersburg.
This was the 6th play of a game I rate as a 9. We played the game on Saturday night, so I did not have to go over the rules. We quickly set up the game and were ready to go.
As usual, everyone bought 2 workers on the first round. In the building phase, Melissa bought an expensive building (cost 20?) while the rest of us had more modest purchases. This proved Melissa's undoing.
Although she jumped to the lead in Victory Points, she was unable to buy more workers and soon fell behind in income. For example, at one point both kids were earning 18 rubles in the worker phase, I was earning 15 and Melissa was still stuck at 6. She finally got her income engine going but it was too late for her.
Daughter concentrated on aristocrats and had the most. Son could get buildings cheaper and focused on that. I fought daughter for Aristocrats and picked up what buildings I could. In the end, I had picked up enough.
Final Scores: Larry 110, Son and Daughter 96 each, Melissa 77.
