What new game will I get?

Again the urge is upon me to add to my collection, and Im really uncertain what I want to get.
I am also short on cash

Wrath of Ashardalon
I have Castle Ravenloft and am on the fence about how I feel about it, sure its a very dry type of dungeon crawler, where in other games you get excitement at encounters (Warhammer Quest comes to mind), this is a constant barrage of monsters and bad stuff, unrelenting to the point of boring.
The game play is constant but im not sure if Id define it as fun.
New characters, new monsters, the Gauth mmm but yea, undecided.

Claustophobia
Nice components, and from what Ive read, engaging gameplay thats fun. Sounds good, but id have liked a different variety of monsters (being a D&D geek) and heroes.
My idea of a questing party are individuals with distinct roles.

Dust Tactics expanding
I like this game and the Operation Cyclone expac is pretty cheap, though im sorta dubious about the line to be honest, it seems like its going to be forever til more good stuff gets released.
The base set by itself isnt enough for me, I want more.

Mansions of Madness
Very on the fence with this one.
I like the theme, that scores top marks for me, mythos haunted house.
From what ive read about the gameplay and set up time turn me off of it though.
Makes me want to crank out my 1st ed Betrayal at the House on the Hill although my experience with that was about 50/50 of fun or dull ending

Best game listed there is Claustrophobia by a country mile IMHO.
Good luck!

Well I don't mean to throw a monkey wrench into the list but do you have the new edition of Betrayal? Had a great time with my one outing with it but I can understand not wanting to update it.

Mansions of Madness, while took some time to set up, was a blast to play.

Have you checked out Earth Reborn? I know it's not on the list.. but it is an amazing game with infinite replayability. I highly reccomend it as a new purchase.

Otherwise I would go with Mansions of Madness (set-up isn't that bad after the first 1 or 2 games) or Claustrophobia which has been compared to Space Hulk.

WoA seems pretty meh. I wouldn't spend the cash.

I am a huge fan of Mansions of Madness.

That said, Claustrophobia is the best game on that list, hands down.

It has great game play with good replay value. Highly respectable component quality. The packaging is logical. Everything you need in one box and free designer support online with a lot of personal input on this site.

It even has an expansion coming out later this year. But it is one of the few games while I would buy the expansion for, it isn't necessary by any means.

All in all the best game on that list by a very long way.

No I haven't due to having very little interest in Mansions of Madness and some replayability concerns others have had with it. meeple

Mansions of Madness is similar to betrayal, but it's more of a role playing game with the keeper acting as the GM and guiding what happens to the players.

Have you tried any of the variants for Ravenloft? Some simple ones improve the gameplay a lot. I won't play w/o them now.

i notice all the others on your list are more involved , more time consuming , are better with more than 2 people , and more weighty sooooooo.........

dust tactics , light years ahead of the rest . its fast to set up , fast to play , and easy to learn , so you dont have to spend alot of time re-reading rules , and the new rules let you use the new walker types , AND you can play with more than 2 people , but plays perfectly with JUST 2 aswell so you dont HAVE to get other people to play to get ALL the fun out of it

it also give you incentive to watch more war movies , and you cant go wrong with that !

FWIW, I could not get into Claustrophobia, but I thought MoM did a great job of telling a narrative. I love it. I will admit that Claustrophobia has more solid tactical mechanics. Story vs. Mechanics... Choose and perish!

Earth Reborn is pretty rad, as well, though I've only played scenario 1.

I own both Castle Ravenloft and Wrath of Ashardalon. Both are fun and do exactly what they were branded to do. I was also looking at MoM and I think I will be picking it up eventually. Just yesterday I purchased Dust Tactics along with an additional base set today! I have not checked out Claustrophobia, but now that I know of it and people are liking it so much, I'll take a look!

Having not played MoM yet or Claustrophobia (Nor DT but I've been researching it for over 3 days now and have pulled the trigger on it x2) I would say maybe go with Dust Tactics, the minis are top notch and worth way more than the base price of the game (71 bucks shipped from amazon).

The D&D games are great fun as well but are not the same type of game at all. Although if time is a factor, these might get bumped up a notch or two?

I would also say it depends on the genre and themes that you might like over others.

No one has mentioned "A Touch of Evil" from Flying Frog Productions.
Fantastic horror game. Easy to play. Can be played solo. So far, its my favorite game to play when I have limited time.

When I have lots of time on my hands. I like to play Arkham Horror. Great game that can also be played solo. Setup time can seem long at first.

Both games tell a story.

If you like horror and can`t get enough of it. These two games will float your boat.
