Space.
The final frontier.
Make that, "the precious commodity." Like so many compulsive game buyers I am short on space for new games. Each purchase adds to the overflowing stacks of games. sure, I need to buy some shelves and have a plan to rearrange things, but I will still be pushing the limits of what I can organize.
One of the issues I have is I will not throw away boxes to expansions which are mixed into the base game, or games which I carry around in another box. Right now, I have four large and two Dominion boxes, and only the actual Dominion box has anything in it (the randomizer cards, blanks, and basic cards from intrigue. I also have two empty large Thunderstone boxes and a small one which are laying around, and I will be adding a Nightfall expansion to the pile in the next week. And that's not all. There are many more empties taking up space.
What should I do with the boxes? Tossing them seems to be the prudent idea, but the last time I tossed a bunch of empty expansion boxes, they were all the expansions for the 1st/2nd edition of Talisman. That was a mistake.
I could put them in the garage, but it has been converted into a room. There is a small amount of space at the front of the house, but it is filled with the outdoor tools and other things which have been moved out there to store.
I could take out a small storage room and pay a small monthly fee to keep my empty boxes safe and sound, because that doesn't sound insane at all.
Right now, I am leaning to just putting them in banker's boxes and putting the boxes on the shelves in a closet, though one of these days I might have the will to throw them out. Or, I'll win the lottery and build a house with a separate room just for empty boxes, but when you're rich you can't be insane. Then you are eccentric!
