A girl painted zombies!

Please excuse the pictures. I took them with my phone during the process and I didn't thought about using them here. I just took pictures because it's a habit of mine. However, after I had painted the zombies, I realized that I could use them in a photodiary.. and here it is!

Day 1:

My boyfriend showed me a Last Night on Earth zombie painting tutorial, and it gave me confidence that maybe I could success at painting too. I had never before painted anything, I had thought that my hands just aren't steady enough to paint something as small as these figures, and also because I am not the best when it comes to patience... Anyway. This is what I had when we started from:

As you can see they were already primed. My boyfriend primed them so they would be ready for painting once I get back home from work. Isn't he thoughtful? I painted the skin first. I chose to paint the skin green even though I think that zombies are gray. I thought that green would look nicer.

Day 2:

The next day I painted the clothes. I didn't put much thought to it, I just mixed a color and painted some pants and them some shirts until everything was painted. Yeah. They don't look so stylish but I don't mind. My zombies just don't have fashion sense.

Day 3:

On third day I painted the hair and added some minor details. My boyfriend told me that I shouldn't paint any details, but I added some dirt to the clothes just to keep myself busy longer. My boyfriend was painting heroes at the same time, so I didn't want to stop painting until he had finished painting too.

And yeah, I accidentally painted a hipster zombie. Just look at this:

Day 4:

Dipping! Dipping was fun... and smelly. We didn't exactly dipped them though, just brushed the wood stain on them and then brushed some off with a dry brush. I think it worked well too.

Day 5:

Lastly I painted the bases. At first I painted the brown bases with dark brown.

I didn't like it. I thought it was way too dark and that it didn't really make the zombies to stand out. So I repainted them:

Much better. The orange also matched the original bas color quite closely. And it made the zombies to stand out better. I was very happy that I decided to repaint them. I thought about repainting the green zombies lighter too, but my boyfriend was so fond of the green I had used that I decided not to.

Day 6:

On last day the zombies got varnished. My boyfriend had some spray varnish so it was really fast and easy to do. Here are the zombies in their zombie pool after varnishing:

Day 7:

I took some better pictures!

I can't believe how great they look, especially considering how easy it was to paint them... and considering that this was the first time I painted figures. Our Last Night on Earth looks awesome now, zombies painted by me and heroes painted by my boyfriend.

Outstanding work for the first attempt at painting.thumbsup I've wanted to have a go at painting for a while now - you may have motivated me to give it a shot. And if (when) I screw it up, my wife is an artist and would likely bail me out.

This looks really good. I haven't painted any figures sine i got my original starter copy of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. This makes me want to buy a copy of the game just so I can try painting again.

It must have been a lot of work to drink the wine, so you can use the corks as stands for the figures.

Very nice painting.

LNOE is a very "fun" game.

Now you are ready to move on to more "serious" (and still a LOT of fun) stuff like Combat Commander: Europe

They look great! I really enjoy painting minis even though I don't really play that many games that have them.

Yeah! Here are the heroes:

Originally he wanted to paint the bases black, but I told him not to. If dark brown looked too dark, black would have looked even worst. I think the gray color he eventually chose works great.

Well it was a lot of work, but we didn't drink the wine. My boyfriend walked all the way to his parents to get the corks, and then of course he had to walk back

Those look very good, great job! I am currently painting all the LNOE figs myself, actually. Can I ask, what did you use for your dip??

Again, GREAT job, thank you for sharing!!!

The dip we used was Liberon matt stain walnut, but I don't know if it's available there.

Very nice!!! I also "accidentally" started to paint because I got annoyed with mixing up my Ashardalon heroes on the board. It is addictive!
Well done!
