We started with Alhambra, which I did terribly in, thanks to Sami suddenly coming along and winning the Turm battle that James and I were in, by buying 4 turms in only a few turns!! Colin won this one by absolutely miles. Next came Race for the Galaxy, as a filler before going to the station to get Matt. Colin won again, with the rest of us close to each other but miles behind him! Next James and Colin played some 2 players while Sami had nightmares putting the kids to bed and I went to the station, and then we started a 5 player Power Grid. I was doing really well, and powered and built 14 houses, but then for some reason went totally mad the next turn, paid so much money for a power plant that made me power 17 that I couldn’t buy any more houses, and ended in 3rd place – I think I forgot it was only 15 we had to get to in 5 player temporarily – either that or just had a moment of insanity – there was no way I shouldn’t have won that game easily! Colin won, managing to just beat Matt on the cash tie-break.

After that we decided to go for something lighter, as my brain clearly wasn’t up to anything more – so pulled out Ave Caesar, which we hadn’t played for a while – I managed to get 0 points in the first 3 races, not reaching the finish line in two, and crashing and burning in the other, so was well out of it. Everyone else did similarly badly in one race, but got points from the other two, so it was all down to the last race. Matt was victorious, but I did manage to win the final race at least!! We finished with a fun Mao session, with some rather different rules to usual, so instead of saying lots every turn, most cards were handed out for not knowing it was your turn due to skips and reverses.
